I am just like whitedust....I know you guys think we are nuts....but I don't even own a trailer...why?? Because I can ride out my back door usually....so if the trails are closed...I don't ride....if I really get a bug up my butt, then I go pound some ditches....but otherwise I am cut off too...until they open...it's really not a big deal to wait a couple days...once they are open I go in the evening, and I even ride my sled to work...trailering is a pain in the butt to me,,,if I can't ride out my back door...why go?? It's why I live up here![]()
100% correct if trails are closed they are closed.Eagle River was working on a staging area off G not sure that is ready yet? Phelps does not have a staging area & would not help in this situation trails are closed. If I was going to trailer I would need my bud & he is in CO the other bud in Canada so if I can't ride out the door legally I wait.
Some people make things happened, other people ask what just happened & some people have no idea something just happened.lol In baseball when the umpire says" Batter Up" & you don't have a batter you forfeit the game per bad game management. Phelps trails will open someday not sure when at this point but has nothing to do with icy conditions.![]()
Catsonly, I grew up on Farwell Ave in EP. Are you a long time EPer?
If I were you guys and i lived as close to ridable snow as you do i wouldn't be on this board I can tell you that mcuh. Then when it hits 50 in two weeks you'll be kicking yourself for not trailering 15 miles.
I find it better to just ride and think about the money later...You guys are funny. What do you think we live with trailers hooked up to our trucks everyday? If I was going to trailer I would end up in Greenland but that takes preparation & permission to park ...then what?... I drive home & do it again the next day on an endless financed road vacation. It takes money to trailer everyday & money not well spent on road miles that can be spent on the trail miles in a few days. You guys make it sound like it is so simple but then again you have no idea what you are talking about only difference with costs is distance driven to snow every other cost is the same & preparation is the same just you don't have to scramble for legal parking at your lodging. Think it out not that easy, cost effective or good use of time in any way takes planning & money to trailer anywhere.

Hey JR...my wife is from Marathon....we will be having our family xmas at the in laws on the 22nd and 23rd...was hoping the trails would be open down there by then...want to drive the sled down...and take the wife out for an evening ride..either to edgar..athens...or??
It isn't like you have to trailer to Greenland. Conover is what maybe a couple miles from Phelps. I would be on the sled to get Pizza at the Log Cabin Friday Night.

When I was a kid, those bars were dime stores, drug stores and bakeries. We actually called it going "uptown." That's where we got our kites, candy and rubber balls for stickball. The best thing around there is Tony's Deli. King size Italian sausage with sweet peppers. Outstanding. Do you know any O'Donnells from MP? Danny or Kevin? My nephews.Moved from mount prospect where i grew up out here almost 2 years ago, live right dowtown in apartment buildings above the bars!
