I forget what Sparks began selling for when they were first released but new two year old ones can be had for 4,995 if you look; old Yellow does not have a history of depreciating that quick so I see it as a dead product to me. I also laugh at the "Scarab" line; yuk and more accelerated depreciation, it is not for me, I like some value with my purchases.

As an FYI; I buy a new Doo each year so I am a BRP supporter. This year, my 850 Renegade cost me abut $980 in depreciaiton to ride about 1,050 miles, now that is value!

Totally agree no way I take my gkids on WI or UP trails with a 200 they would get blown off.. poop their pants & scare them. It would have to be a controlled enviroment so they could be safe. Maybe a lake with me close by or my own land under a watchful eye. To me the 200 is nothing more than a yard toy and expensive one at that.

Exactly my point. Perhaps the trail racers should be regulated to a "controlled environment" instead of the families. That way everyone can be safe, instead of chasing the families off the trails. And, just sayin, maybe grandparents should be a little more angry about being terrified to take their grandkids for a leisurely ride (-40 mph) on trails that MANY helped install in the first place. We need to give young families a reason to get involved again before its too late for the sport. Having reasonably priced sleds again is a great re-start. But IMO family friendly riding regions are even more important. The sport, as is, is dying a slow, overpriced death. Two words that no one wants to hear would solve most of the problems. Speed limits....

Really don't need much real estate for kids to ride saftely. Maybe resorts like Afterglow or Minoqua Winter park will cut trails buy fleets of snowscoots for Ma & Pa and kids to use. Sure would be cheaper for the consumer than buying a $3-4K yard toy that will be out grown shortly. I understand where you are coming from but speed limits go over like a fart in a spacesuit by most sledders.

If you want speed limits, come to Minnesota.. 50 mph speed limit day and night. Plus aggressive DNR and cops strategically placed on long straight aways and on 30 mile long lake Vermillion they use a radar gun behind a white screen.

Speed Limits... NO thanks, that would make me for sure rethink about investing in the future in the sport. I have no problem with 50 at night or limits in residential areas, but part of the fun it running the sled WFO in areas you safely can. I could not imagine going across the flowage in Mercer at 50, or some of the RR grades either. I understand in most twisty tight trails you don't get to 50 much but so many areas you can safely go much faster and enjoy these sleds at.

Is it so hard to believe that parents/grandparents are willing to pay $3-4K for the kids rather than on themselves? So you recommend leaving things as they are? Its already down to mostly snowmobile related business owners filling many club board positions. As many of the "old guard" are begging to retire and move south, that leaves those that are now doing the bare minimum, (sitting in on a few club meetings and calling themselves active) to step up. :devilish: I guess you can always pay someone else to do the work, re your all inclusive snowmobile resort areas. As I said in the past, all snowmobiling will be up north, very crowded and very expensive. Meanwhile, the families are spending their vacation dollar$ elsewhere. I hear Disney has been breaking attendance/profit records the last few years. The polar opposite of snowmobile registrations....

Yep you are on target with your posts and not a lot that I disagree with other than trail speed limits. No way to enforce them and the peeps who run the clubs also not interested in speed limits or interest in resort area trail enforcements which usually end up being dragnets which become a negative to visitors. I'm not a fan of over regulation in any form more of a common sense type of person & don't need big brother telling me what and how to live & play. Yes the younger generation needs to step up in Club management I agree 100% with that comment but old gaurd NOT wanting to give an inch of that control to new peeps in my area in fact just the opposite. My idea to have a controlled environment resort with 200s and snowscoot rentals is the path of least resisitance for a weekend of sking, sledden & tubing for young kids then back to the city for work and school. I know I would have paid for that back in the day very simple to connect and disconnect pay to play activity for familes and move on to next thing.

Instead of all the over regulation rhetoric, wouldn't it have been easier to just say that you're not interested in your grandkids (or anyone else's grandkids) enjoying the sport as it was originally envisioned, but it is OK for families to be regulated to riding in controlled riding encampments for your convenience? :devilish:
As for the old guard.... Until last year, we had a place UP north for over ten years. My wife and I were more than welcomed into the clubs that we still belong to UP there. Often spending more time working club functions while we were UP, then riding our snowmobiles.
As for the $3-4K yard toys.... I'm ordering two of them to add to our small CC vintage snowmobile fleet. Because to me, it's more important to try and draw the next generation into the sport then say, power steering on a sled. ;)

Well I have had no problems getting my 2 kids into the sport. One is 16 and the other turns 12 today and since there is no snow to ride in S. Wi we will be heading the U.P next week for 4 days so he can enjoy his snowmobile license and finally drive on his own. Maybe I am in the wrong, but I refuse to let the danger override the memories that we will make. I also take nothing for granted as you never know what can happen. I learned after my mom passed away not to worry what you cant control and you are only on this earth once, make the most and have fun and live with no regrets.

wow talk about getting off track but a lot of these problems would go away if we could get more snow rather than the small areas that do get it. I think the 200's are a better investment than the 120's and they sell pretty good and hold their value.

We will have to agree to disagree on the matter of trail speed limits and to me it is over reguation to you something else...that's ok with me. Congrats on your purchase of 200s enjoy them. The old gaurd is a problem in some clubs certainly not all clubs so I want to make sure you understood my post regarding this matter. I too have found the UP to be very welcoming in every way never had a problem I said my area which is Vilas county which is a specific as I want to be at this time. :)

Snowchecked a ZR6000ES. Will go with the 2 year warranty and $700 in accessories from Road, Track and Trail today. It will be the first Cat I have ever owned.

Will use the $700 for a taller windshield, tunnel bag, cover, hand guards, etc.

glad yur little story about me makes you feel good about yourself. I'm out there everyday seeing you proud safe parents with your precious cargo in harms way. I hope the DNR starts regulating your type off the trail.....in a car you'd be ticketed for such irresponsible treatment of your kids.....what is the law as you transport your fam up north to the northwoods to ride at risk?, they need to be in a child seat til 6,7,8 years old?....and you make the decision to take your kids riding while yur superior and sober?....LOL
