I think it’s hilarious that you posted this. I almost posted the exact same question a couple of weeks ago. Inventory management at my house has made a similar suggestion but I’m disputing the claim. For the record, there are currently five sleds in the sled shed: three vintage and two semi-late models that aren’t all that new. There were six until one was sold last spring but there is a replacement on order (finally). Granted, I’m about the only one that rides much anymore but I not sure that should be figured in. My position is that as long as they fit in the shed I’m not overstocked.

You didn’t mention how many you have but I think it’s unlikely that you have too many. I think it will help if you show your wife posts such as this. You might actually come off looking like you need more.

I have 7 sleds It's not like I'm in love with a certain brand I have all the big 4 in my garage

When I was going to buy my 2009 I was told that three would have to go, which is what I did. Well for the 2 of us we still have three and an asphalt sled in the shed.

They are kind of like children, when you have TOO many to take care of, THEN you have TOO many.

This is my problem. We're down to only three but I never even started our third sled last winter. I'm gonna have problems with it if I don't get out there and run some fresh gas through it soon. Have to run the Kitty Kat too.

Hey now....Although some of us might be affected by the old days when you needed three to have one running well enough to use.

Tuff getting down to 1 Yamaha Attak but been that way for 3 years now & back up sled just gathered dust. Downsized & time to do other things than maintain sleds & you can only ride 1 at a time anyway.:) Can't see having more than 2 sleds for 1 rider.

Guess it depends a little on the riding variety. My XC wouldn't make it very far across the Red Lake bog in mid-winter but then, the mountain sled wouldn't be the first choice for a 250 mile trail loop. Sleds have become somewhat specialized.

I am currently down to one 2012 RMK Pro 800. In the past when the kids where stilll at home I peaked at around 12 sleds, all decent sleds. My brother has almost always 30-60 sleds. none newer than 1980. He goes on streaks of what he collects, right now it is Sno Hawks. last week it was Massey Ferguson.

I currently have two. Have not had anymore then 2 at one time. The only reason i have two is they have different abilities. 2011 skidoo renegade 1200 4 tec and 2012 skidoo renegade 600 Etec. Love the 4 stroke for trail riding and for when someone wants to ride along. The etec is great for on/off trail and much lighter and more nimble.

one of my next sleds a want is a 1972 Ski-doo Olympic I'd probably trade alot newer sled for one if it's in great shape.

I don't think there is a magic number to your question. It is like her telling you you have to many tools, or you telling her she has to many shoes. If you don't think you have to many then you don't have to many. If they start to get in the way or get to be a hassle to work around then you may have to many. So if the shed/shop/garage isn't full, keep on buying.

Amen to this! I have space for one more, maybe two if I get rid of some frivolous things like a lawn mower, snow blower, pressure washer, etc.

P.S. reiley, I like the way you think - a 72 Olympic, one of the sleds that opened up the sport to the average guy. Kind of a "lunch pail" do everything sled.

I aways liked the 72 skidoo I think it the flip up head light that does it for me.Plus It's the first snowmobile I've ever drove and started the addicting madness of snowmobiling for me.I won't tell my wife that she'd probably let me get it then she'd burn it to the ground.LOL I already got her to move to the U.P.(Which she loves living up here by the way).
