Welcome Snomoman.
My only experience was to roll thru your wonderful D. State with a trailer a time or 2 at the cost of an extra $60 or so....D. Utopia ain't cheap is it?

I go from MPLS to Wheaton Ill on tolls- 6 hours - backroads 6 hours 15min- " so I just aint goinna pay no tolls - then we crashed the gates goin 98 , I said let them truckers roll 10-4 cause we got a great big convoy trucken through the night- ya we got a great big convoy aint she a beautiful sight-
really though I don't think they save much time and they piss me off -esp when they are busy and slow anyway

Dats it. I'm moving to a turd world country.

snomoman is back with my results. Picked up my sled from the dealer, went through westbound aurora toll plaza earlier today. Looked up my account & saw no activity. Wondering if having 2 transponders next to each other is freaking the system out & they are cancelling each other out. Just a guess, if so I'm going to get more transponders & who knows...maybe they will start adding credit to my account. Only wishful thinking. I have to be proud of my first post.... last time I looked, there were around 1100 hits & climbing
Sincerely
Snowmoman

Years ago we were referred to as FIBWAT's the WAT meaning with a trailer. Not knowing if that meant a snowmobile trailer or a trailer "down by the river" as the late Chris Farley used to say in his SNL skit.

When I lived up in Eagle River with all of the summer tourism we referred to our Illinois neighbors as FISHTAB's :)

Hello Everyone,
This is snomoman & my 1st post to this site. Having being an avid snowmobiler since 1981, I've been always interested in what everyone has to say here.
Onto my topic. I went in the the Tollway building (In Illinois) to get a new transponder since mine wasn't working. I asked the clerk why everytime I went on a snowmobile trip, My I-Pass account was always being replenished. To my surprise, I needed a special 3 axle transponder. (2 axles on truck & 1 axle on snomo trailer=3 axles) Since a was using a 2 axle transponder is the past when I used my snomo trailer, I was being charged the full rate as if I had no transponder at all. What a ripoff!! All these years I was Being charged the full amount. I can't even guess how much I overpaid, but at least a few tanks of gas. NO MORE!!
My suggestion to everyone when traveling our (not so) great Illinois tollway system with a trailer, be sure to use the correct transponder (the 3 axle transponder is blue, so it's easy to know the difference) There is a $10.00 deposit, which will be refunded when you surrender the transponder in the future.
Hope this helps,
Sincerely,
snomoman

This is SNOMOMAN.... I have been proven wrong in this post. Sorry for leading everyone on about this topic. I used both transponders side by side (blue & white transponders) last Friday. It took until 6AM Sunday morning to see what I was charged.
Low & behold the f.....g bastards charged me $3.65 on each transponder. Being disappointed is an understatement. I did the math & came up with a figure of a 487% surcharge for adding a single axle trailer behind my truck. Regular toll is 75 cents, multiply by 487% & come with $3.65. Now that is absurd!! I will NEVER use the tollway hauling a trailer again. We all should sue these thieves.
Sincerly,
snomoman
