The Illinois Tollway is bad enough but if you want some real sticker shock take your rig on the Chicago Skyway during "Peak" time of 4:00 am to 8:00 pm!!

2 axle is $5.20
3 axle is $18.10
4 axle is $24.10

it goes up by $6.00 per axle to 7 at $42.10

Do I have anybody with me that want's to boycott the tollway system due to outrageous fees for hauling a trailer!! Come on fellow Illinois snowmobilers.... Let's get together on this!! At least for now,, try to avoid using the tollway when you are hauling a trailer. I live in the Aurora area & intend on NOT using the tollway on my next snomo trip. I will save approx. $20.00 !!! It will only cost me 15 minutes each way. That amounts to a $40.00 per hour wage that the tollway IS NOT going to receive through my wallet!! Please let me know how you feel about this. (PS $20.00 may buy me a decent steak dinner in the UP or gas, or 1/2 a trail pass, etc......)
Let's unite together & become the start of a new beginning on NOT GETTING RIPPED OFF by the tollway authority.
Thanks everyone for reading,
Sincerely,
Snomoman

It would be like peeing in the ocean to them, but you're on to something. If ALL recreational users were to band together, something possibly could happen. I'm talking boaters, campers, sledders, etc. The more I think about how much we are getting screwed, the more it pisses me off.

This is a great idea. I should be able to get home from work much faster if everyone got the heck off the toll road.

You sound fauxfended!

What does frnash think?....the "fauxfended"...them who have been taught by the liberal public school system and universities to live a PC life and falsely express themselves as being offended when facts don't agree with their agenda.

Snomoman....you ARE joking, right?....LOL

$4.65 with transponder for a 2 axle trailer at S. Beloit...I just think of it as $10 to get the f*#@ out of Illinois for a few days. One less round of beers at dinner for the wife and me. What ever.

I have a friend that retired with a pension from the tollway. All he does is laugh at my comments about the absurd prices with a trailer. He says someone has to pay his pension, might as well be me. He has medical insurance until he's 65 too.
No wonder......I'm soo peed off.

What is your usual route to get out of town? Where do you head to when you ride?

Before I realized how ripped off I was getting by the tollway, I took I-88 west to 39 north to 90 north. Now I will go north on route 47, west on route 20, north on route 23, north on route 14
which turns into route 89 in Wisconsin, north to route 11, then west to 39/90. I usually go up to the western UP. Been staying in mass city for the last few years. It is a centralized spot where
I can go to copper harbor, sidnaw, the porkies. Will usually get on around 500-600 miles. Since 1981 I would say that I have put on 40,000 or more miles. Pretty much have traveled all over the UP. Took the ferry to Drummond island 1 year.

Not worth it, Snomoman. Gotta bite the Illinois bullet sometimes and pay the crooks. Your time and gas won't equal your savings with that route.

yeah, your probably right. One advantage is I am traveling with another snowmobiler & we share all the expenses, so at least it's half price I guess if I figure out what the cost will be.

You know... I'm beginning to think... Secure storage for snomotrailers up north, i'm sure it's already there...If you go on multiple trips, it would save on tolls
& gas mileage, but you would have to go through snowmobile withdrawl leaving it up there.. I saw a neat system a couple of years ago...This guy at my motel had a
frametype system that he had on the backbed of his pickup truck. There were 2 snowmobiles side by side. Looked a little top heavy to me. What would be neat would be to able to easily remove your stock bed, then have a custom bed with a lower center of gravity that would accommodate 2 sleds. Is it out there?

I'm pretty sure I will store my trailer somewhere around Tomahawk next year, as close to I-39 as possible. I will save time, tolls, and gas mileage while getting a trailer out of my driveway. It's worth it. I've given up on the idea of riding the southern half of Wisconsin.
