Indy's New Project

Sorry for not takin more pics, i'm almost finish and will most likely finish it up tomorrow. i got a 31cc ryobi weed-eater motor with a sprocket already welded on it and made my own motor mounts for it (took 3 hours to make them lol) and i think it will work. i have to make a stand so i can start it up and hop on it and go because i have no clutch. i got it with no airbox and muffler, so i made my own airbox (now starts on the first pull and runs a lot smoother) but i kept the muffler off. i also attached a string to use as a throttle. i have to attach another string to make it longer and put it on my handlebars tomorrow. To attach the motor to the wood i cut out a square with a reciprocating saw in a chunk of plywood and screwed it into the exhaust manifold. it's really solid, a lot more solid than i thought it would be. i still have to attach the 2x4 on top of the brown stained board to the brown stained board. i did have a metal rack on the back, i just put a chunk of plywood on the top and bottom and put a bolt thru it to attach wood to it. overall everything has been working out good so far. i originally had the motor mounted on top of the rack but now that won't work since i started it up and turned the tire backwards lol. so that's y i have the motor the direction i have it. oh yeah i might put a brake on the front tire tomorrow and i still have to put the front tire on.

future mechanical engineer in the making or one heck of a inventer more pictures for sure...

No doubt. Nice to see a young guy using is brain and being creative, instead of walking around like a zombie with a cell phone stuck in his hand or zoned out in front of a video game.

Keep up the good work, Indy!

Indy, is that a drag bike? Looks like right hand turns could be a problem. Have fun, be safe!

Love your ingenuity,....My freinds and I were always doin that kinda stuff at your age, thought that kinda garage "fun" was all but lost in the past 2 generations.....

You might want to link the bottom of your 2x4 frame back to the bike down low to keep it square to the chain/...and maybe a brace mounted under the motor,...not sure about those 2 small bolts through the plywood holdin up....
Nice Idea!!!!

and thanks for all the comments guys. I send about 15 texts a month and i haven't touched my Xbox in over a month. no lie. I think i'll put the front tire on, maybe put a brake on, finish the throttle, and strengthen some more

did a bike with a weed whip prob 30yrs ago try this for your next use a old rear bike rack mount shaft facing down with a wheel on shaft at height of tire touching tire.then make rack hinged so you can hook up a old break cable or something when you want to stop pull the break Handel and rack lifts just enough to pull shaft off tire.I had a 43mph 10 speed when I was like 12

i just might have to try that! i got it all put together this morning but i have a hard time starting it because the sprocket doesn't get to move freely when i pull.

you need some type of clutch or slip device like ezra talking about!you should get about 420 miles to the gallon .I would think a gas powered leaf blower strapped on the back would give you some jet action while your peddling and the cops cant bust you cause your pedaling to your leaf blow job!! lol lots of ideas on you-tube under weedwhacker powered bycycles. Have fun and when you go to engineering school at houghton you can take your sled up there to ride to school!!
