"A fool and his money will soon freeze to death in the woods".
I do have a old pr of klim bibs they are fine don't know about the holy grail of bibs but they work no better than my old cat boondocker gortex bibs .
I have there helmet it is just ok with in the first yr all the plastic stuff around the vents busted off but who cares it still works.deff not the best helmet I own but it is the best for when it is not freezing out .
I just think it is getting ridiculous expensive for some 3 world sewing shop gear.
come on any one who can justify 1300 bucks for a jacket because it has the klim name on it falls in to the huge DB category.
I get the $400 I wont pay it but I get it. I think $300 is my max per piece for something.
but hey if they can get some DB to spend 1300 bucks on something that cost them less than $20 to make and ship all the power to them

Like some others have said...you get what you pay for. I surely believe in that, especially that I ride 4 1/2 months a year. I average between 5-6 thousand mountain miles a year. There is only one brand that I go with and that is Klim. I think dont think its right to call someone out on what there wearing. If someones got 1300 dollars to spend on a jacket...all power to them....they obviously want the best....but most of all there spending money on the sport, not against the sport (a la The Northface, Marmut...etc.)

I don't call my auto mechanic a DB because he spent 15k on a Snap on tool box...(is that crazy to me?...yes....but he uses that stuff everyday...it makes him money...that makes sense). Its one thing if you do it for a hobby its another thing if you do it for a job...Maybe the target market for this coat is for people that use it everyday? They need the best...most durable...most comfortable...best warranty etc...its a tool to them...I have seen this coat in person...i work side by side with someone who wears this coat...and I will be the first to tell you that he is no "DB", especially when your trying to follow him around on a snowmobile...

I guess theres more to the story then just spending 1300 on a coat...but to each there own...I was just trying to open up a view point that a lot of people dont really look at....

Ride on...

There are DB's everywhere, some wear $1300 coats, some wear T-shirts with holes in 'em. After 4 years reading this board on a regular basis I've concluded that there are even a few DB's right here on johndee.com. Not sayin' any names just callin' it like I see it.

Peace out girls scouts!

so he wears a motorcycle jacket out riding sleds? sound like a pro

Ezra...come on buddy...you could wear a trash bag as a coat and layer it right and it would work. But that's not the point. He wears it for durability reasons...playin in the trees and what not.

I guess I worry more about how u ride then what ur wearing riding. Klim to castle, $1300 to $10...people wear all different types of gear...judge if u must, but i take more of a humble approach. Happy riding.

Definitely to each their own but I wouldn't spend $1300 on a jacket, let alone $600. I do a lot of riding including boondocking and have no issues with my gear: each piece in the $200-300 range. And yes, some of of it is Klim.

If someone wants to spend that, go ahead. I won't think they are a DB if they have the money to do it (i.e. a millionaire); however, if they don't then they are one. Just like the people who drive in cars equivalent to 50+% of their yearly salary. I just shake my head.

I found the perfect suit for Ezra, cheap, cat green, and all the kewl, most bestest riders are wearing them, and he won't like a d-bag in the parking lot.

Yea, a DB, almost as bad as some rich DB spending a ridiculous amount of money to make a sled go fast on the ice, right Ezra?

like 3 yrs ago I was at some sno x deal and hmk was selling a 1 piece suet I got him to give it to me for cheep. I had to buy it just so I could pull it out on a guys trip for some good chuckles.
turns out I actually find a lot of use for it and like it.

yep poss but until u sit on the line and load the the air box with nos just before the light turns green u cant knock it.
I had to bow out of the ice game with all the boys all running 300+hp turbos I cant keep up on a contractor budget nor do I have the 4s knowledge to try.
but I still have buds in the game and get to launch one a few times a season

I think the high price on their gear can be blamed on Polaris having ownership. It won't be long before the shoulders in these coats start blowing out. I hear they will stand by their product though by sending you a repair kit that includes a needle and thread.:)

Hey thats how we rolled in the 70s.;) Our family rode Skidoos back then too. But our one piece suits were black with yellow accents, and we had the yellow helmets with the black racing stripes. We were stylin. My dream sled was even a Silver bullet too.

You betcha. Bread bags on my feet to keep me dry with the old felt liner sorrels and wool socks with the Carhart bibs and coat(usually Blaze Orange) cuz it was the warmest I had!

I think I'll enjoy my current gear more. Dry and warm whatever it is!
