Holy crap, you guys really do hate me! Over 10,000 posts certainly entitles you to get personal, and JD can certainly break any of his own rules he wants also, this website being his playground and all.

I am a bit confused by this. Where did I break the rules? I am sorry that the moderating by me has dropped off, but I have been without internet access at my home/office since Saturday night. I am having to commute to Calumet several times a day to get the essential work done to make a living and have not been able to moderate the board as I usually do. Sorry to you and anyone else this might have been a problem with and hopefully this post by me does not cause a free for all to start breaking the rules!!!

-John

PS. I have a new slogan for At&T..."Elevating frustration to new levels"

Personally I think its interesting to read Kwikgren"s perspective on the sport. Make no mistake, it's how the rest of the population sees us snowmobilers. Kwikgren is not the problem, he is only shining a light on the problem. And sometimes the view is much different from the outside. Also, no one outside the sport cares about the little nuances of the sport, like long or short track sleds.

or
First of all for you there are no rules, being your website and all, if you want it that way.

Second, I've been reading your posts on here for a long time, some very good, others maybe not so much. I know from personal experience the more you write, the more likely sooner or later you will make someone mad. If there was a "thumbs up-thumbs down" option, I can pretty much guess how my postings would rate with the majority on here. That's the price we pay for freedom of speech, and sometimes good can come from argument and discussion. My observation is that as long as you follow the "party line" and are a JD ditto head, a little rule breaking is O.K. Examples would be dissing against the President because of his struggling health care plan, or making fun of Al Gore because of some of his ridiculous statements on global warming. As far as I am concerned that's all fine, especially since I don't believe in censorship of any kind (within reason). But when I play devil's advocate (pushing some people out of their comfort zone), with an "outsiders" perspective on controversial topics like trespassing, property damage, soil erosion, air pollution, noise pollution, endangerment by reckless operation, etc. caused by people on snowmachines with tracks of various lengths and configurations - then I get shouted down, dismissed as chatter, wink-wink maybe he'll go away, and people may even threaten to cut down trees or sacrifice puppies.

Third, it's very easy to sit here with beer and popcorn, or cup of coffee this morning, and try to solve all the world's problems. It's also easy to get carried away and off on a tangent from time to time. People often want to see things as black or white, when most of the time it just isn't that simple. And it's easy to get riled up when things get ugly and it starts to look like the end of the world is upon us. Then it's time to take a deep breath and go outside and turn off the computer...

Chris (Trees4Traction440) is a stand up guy and yes that was a perfect answer...

Thank You Pat, I try my best to keep my customers happy and hopefully gain more riding buddies! lol
Although id understand if you had to take this comment back since i didnt get your sleds done because i was getting my new sled ready to head up for some stress relief tomorrow!!!!

"It does not matter what kind of sled...off trail,mountain,2-up,trail, etc...its the a$$ hole driving it that does"

It's just that these specific a$$ holes were on off trail sleds, I know this because I stopped them and tried to turn them around to go back off the trail underneath the ribbon they ducked to get on the ski trail in the first place. They claimed that their GPS said that they were on a road. I told them I didn't care what their F'n GPS said, they were on private property and wiping out the groomed ski tracks, and they need to turn around. Then they took off down the trail further wrecking the tracks and exited along the downhill area next to the maintenance shed. They also narrowly missed running into one of the landowners who was snowshoeing out there with a friend and just turned and went down another trail when they made their escape run. That would have been an interesting encounter. I always try to be nice initially, but then I tend to get mean real quick dealing with jerks.
wow, i cannot believe some people...sorry to hear you had that kind of problem. They are probably the same people that drive their daily commute and have to rely on a GPS because they are too brain dead. I think the whole experience of riding off the beaten path took a turn south when GPS on sleds got big a few years ago

Sorry to hijack your thread, but I can relate to your frustration when something someone has worked hard for, and paid for, is taken away by thoughtless others. And I did not intend to attack you personally just because you ride an off trail sled and joke about running over trees. That's really none of my business Glad i joke about trees and not snowshoers ;).

its all good and i understand your frusturations and hope that this issue does not happen again just like i hope nobody else has to deal with stolen panels

Am I in trouble? I was in Mercer a couple of weeks ago and dropped ski off trail and ran over some small trees {brush}LOL

shame on you!! i see you live in IL tho so that is punishment enough ;)

Kwikgren- Your barking up the wrong tree  That is if PR1 left any standing ;). The majority on this site are responsible and respect peoples land and property.

Personally, I use my left hand to signal people behind me while I am using the right hand to pour sea and snow into my poo 800 while parked in the middle of the trail.

Same chit, different year. Just like normal.

Sucks for sure. I personally had over $1200 in gear swiped from my hotel room in the UP a few years ago. It sure is a crappy feeling. My friend that was with me also lost about $1500 in gear and electronics. I was so angry that morning that I vowed to never return to the UP again.... I was back up there riding the next weekend.... lol Good luck recovering your side paned.

where was this?

I made a trip to the UP this weekend and managed to come home with both my side panels so ill call it a success....I dont believe i injured any young trees either because the chit was so dang deep i couldnt see any of them anyway!!!
Great weekend and my mind was blown with how much i love my new sled!!!
