if your gas pedal sticks, put it in neutral or shut off the ignition.should be a simple thought but some people are bad under pressure and would just scream thier way right to the crash site.

If you turn off the ignition you will loose all power assist (steering and brakes) or you may lock the steering wheel, not good. Slip it in neutral, cost to a stop and then turn off the ignition.

It sure didn’t take Consumer Reports to distance themselves. Toyotas new and used no longer recommended.

Toyota will be better for this...... we win better cars for all. I would have no problem buying a Toyota now or in future. Very good cars & good time to make a deal with increased inventory. I'm not in market but if I was hello Toyota let's talk about a Sweeeeeeet deal.

Fcat700, Just looked at your Consumer Reports web site "Best and Worst Used cars," Of their "Worst of the Worst list," of cars that have a MUCH worse than average reliability. The list includes the VW Jetta, Beetle, Passat ,Cabrio and the Touareg and ZERO Toyota's. I noticed not 1 single VW listed in any category for Best of Best list, which is dominated by Toyota and Honda.

Oh, lol, not my Consumer Reports, lol. Being a strong believer in VW products Consumer Reports has always hated on VW and thus I have never bought one of their mags. I was commenting on the fact that CR has always drooled all over themselves when it came to Toyota and now they run away. That just reaffirms my opinion that CR is a load of marketing crap.

As if the "Japs" and other foreigners don't see ANY of our money because of course, "American" vehicles don't have ANY foreign-made parts in them!

And for the record....my girlfriend worked (yes, that's past tense) for Chrysler Financial and has never owned anything but American-brand vehicles. But, she's been without a job for almost 2 years. And not because she retired or quit.

Learn the word Global & Toys. built here by Americans are Toy. cars with recalls. If Toy lays off guess who will be getting laid off "Americans". No us & them anymore so know that from get go & we are all better off. Too many cars companies so buyers decide what they want & buy whatever they like. GM not doing real well but Ford on top so buyers like Ford products not bailed out GM products. Who knows what will happen to GM and Crysler down the line no more money to give them.

For what it's worth (a lot to me) the plant where I work exports to Japan. I also work daily with these customers and can tell you they take great pride in what they do. I'm very aware of their counter measure process (corrective action) and can assure this issue will be fixed right. Just a small view pt on a very wide topic.

Most Toyota's sold in the U.S. are made in the U.S., Toyota and Honda provide jobs for many americans, GM, Chrysler, and Ford created their own problems by letting the Union run the company. It proves that when the Union comes in it's just a matter of time until your out of business.

Thank you. I am planning on using my unemployment I earned as a union electrician and buy me a NEW TUNDRA to pull my sleds. I will sleep better knowing all the profit will go to Japan and help their economy and industry grow. Sleep well!

USA gets tax.... incomes, sales, capital gains, no matter where the corp headquarters are located. I never saw any tricke down for me for from GM,Chrysler, and Ford big corp officer's bonus that helped me & my family. Japan will infuse profits in USA for new plants & employs Americans to build their cars. It is all about a better mouse trap & bang for buck for car buyers & everybody can buy whatever they want. GM,Chrysler not on fair playing field & have advantage with bailout money & still sales dragging. If you are unemployed due to slow down in USA car sales look elsewhere for employment. If it was a matter of my survival I would be flipping burgers at Mcds or anything else I had to do. I have been thru a lot in my life time & just plain did whatever I had to for my family during lean times to keep food on the table. Always picked myself up & started again Yes for less income but always moved up quickly thru the years. You can't wait for something to emerge you have to make it happen quickly or you will be in dire straights.

In my eyes, I find it refreshing that the media has finally noticed that foreign cars can have recalls also. The evening news has made a habit of starting their telecasts with American auto makers recalls for years.

I agree, can't turn the other cheek on this one.
