Klim Balaclavas-Small! Other recommendations?

Anybody got the non-covert one? The standard $30 one? Bought one the other day, didn't even think about trying it on, and holy #E11 was it small! Could barely get it on. I have multiple other balaclava that are one-size fits all and they fit without any problems. Mine always get wet around the mouth when it gets cold out, looking for something better. Thought the Klim would be good due to the goretex. Almost makes me wonder if it's a youth one!

Indy you were kind of close to Silver street in Saturday.
I saw noticed you old sled and new sled on Saturday parked down town Hurley for the freestyle demonstration. Did you stick around for the whole thing? They really had a late start from the 1pm start time we left around 1:45 and they had not started yet.

Indy - I have the issue with the klim balaclavas. One size fits all is a little small on me. I wear an XL helmet (HJC sizing), so my noggin isn't significantly bigger than most!

I have the standard one and it doesn't bother me out on the trail (perhaps it stretched a little). I recently purchased the covert, and I may return it because of the size. I am also trying to a high quality balaclava that fits me. Let me know if you find one. I ordered one from Arctiva (comes in two different sizes) that I am going to try on once it arrives.

indy.. yep! just got the 29.99 balaclava a few days ago. bought on line. it does seem like a youth model to me also. very tight to get on. says one size fits all... hmm

Just kidding! They are snug on most but stretch as you use them. I like to covert for the high speed burns down the trail get back to the lodge and the standard one for offtrail stuff. I keep two spares in my pack so I have dry ones all day! :)

I just buy the $5-6 ones, keep an extra one in a jacket pocket in case. Work well enough for me.

Just looked to see what brand, but the new ones I have are in a package branded with "Ken's Sports" on them.

Yup we were eatin at Larry's. Watched the freestyle for a bit and left...

I have an HJC XL and a 509 XXL. Really don't know if I should hang onto to see if it stretches or not. If it doesn't and rips, I will be out $30 and it takes a night of work for me to make that up LOL

It will probably stretch but if you are going to stick with klim I would exchange it for the covert. The cheaper one doesn't stay tucked in, in My experience.

I want to know why no one makes a old school 3 hole face mask you know bank robber style.I have been looking for 3 yrs now/ none/ Nata /zip.
lost my last one then and have not seen one since.
almost ready to start a sweat shop in my basement.I loved them with the open face on most days.and what are the criminals to do now days? really if you find some buy a few I will pay you a finders fee and not the goofy knit body with a felt face they dont work

Indy - I tried on the covert last night compared to the small Klim balaclava that I have owned for 4 years, and to a new one from arctiva. I am going to keep the covert and return the arctiva. I think you'll be a lot happier if you return the small klim and get the covert. I think it is designed a lot better in several ways - the extended length is obvious, but also the cut outs for the eyes and the mouth piece are a lot better, particularly if you are running an open face helmet and goggles. It does seem a little tight but it's a stretchy material and I think it will be fine. My small klim balaclava is four years old and although the material frays a little and some of the threads pull a little, it's basically still in brand new condition.

Tried on the covert. Fit Great and felt great, didn't know if I wanted to spend that kind of money on a balaclava so I picked up another gallon of Klotz for $35 and left LOL

Indy, obviously only you can decide what kind of money you want to spend on this. I too had a lot of trouble with the $50. I will say if the short one is worth $30, than the covert is easily worth $50. I have a hard time opening up my wallet but I figured having a comfortable head is a priority. Just my opinion. If you find a cheaper one you like, let me know.

Came home tonight with an Under Armour one on the table. At least I don't have to open my wallet now! Hopefully it works great!
