Knocking in engine...

When I first take off and give my 99 classic touring sled some gas there is a knocking sound then once it gets moving it goes away what could this be?

May be a burnt belt (flat spot). They tend to jerk at low speeds then smooth out as you get going. Try a different belt and see if it goes away.

check the shims on weights or the weight holes may be auged out

I would check the motor mounts-maybe cracked or broken or missing rubber bushings etc. On acceleration things could be moving around, rubbing, causing that kind of noise

I had a terrible clunk/knock when braking hard and it was my motor mounts.
