05 Doo GSX 600 SDI, 7929 miles, replaced bogey & idler wheel bearings, replaced reeds and cracking throttle body boots with Boyesens. Replaced chain case bearings & seals as preventative maintenance, since I had it apart for track replacement anyhow. Compression still in the 140's.

What may be one persons dependable sled may be anothers nightmare. Too many variables to dependability or nondependability.

2001 Polaris 600 XCSP normal routine maintenance and a head gasket 23,256 miles.

that might be new guiness record for a 2 smoke or does maintenance include lower end, crank, bearings, upper end, rings ,wrist pin bearings besides clutches, jackshaft bearings, suspension wheel bearings? mine due for a valve adjustment at 30,000 but all chasis bearings changed every 5000 wheter they needed it or not and clutches serviced at 5000 also!

Polaris has never left me in the woods. (I do not have a newer 800). Best sled ever: 01 800 XCSP sold it with 8800 miles on it after 2 yrs. Still running with 18,000+ miles on it.

guy that used to live in canada and ran a dealer, now is the mechanic at ray's cycle had an 85 indy 400 with 35,000 miles, switched the motor onto another chassis since the suspension bolt holes got oblonged and now has 51,000 miles on it, but he only drove that 400 motor on the 98 xc chassis for another 5,000 then for another 10k he had 9 different motors in it because he was testing motors for different companies. he had a 4 cylinder 2 stroke in there once.

anyways for me, i got 8,000 miles out of my 99 indy 500 before bottom end crank bearing went out and i got 8,000 miles out of my 93 indy trail before the suspension torque arm snapped in half, the motor was fine. sold that sled as is for $200.

o yeah and no rebuilds in the clutches or motor on the indy 400 supposedly, just goin off by what he said, really depends on where you ride it, he rode on canada trails that had plenty of snow and perfectly groomed trails. he said if you don't take off fast and take it easy and ride on good trail it will last forever.

2007 RMK 600HO, 6483 miles, umm, delaminated carb boots, and one of the coolant hoses was rubbing against the rear motor mount plate. Thats it. Zero issues.

2001 Yamaha SX700R, 5300 on it when I crashed it and killed it. No problems with that sled at all.

Just sold a 2006 600 switchback with 5900 miles on it. Had no issues with that sled, still had original hifax on it. Just changed plugs and belt on it this year at 5400 miles.

2x on the maintenance

And they say one has to rebuild 2 strokes every 3-5ooo miles! Where'd that come from?

Guys that don't :
summerize properly
fully warm up sled
start their sled with oil in gas in fall

seen two sleds with less than 1100 miles loose crank bearings
