Loggers Upset - DNR ~ Passing Info

Read that Wildlife Refuge posted on facebook regarding the DNR, loggers and equipment?

Sounds like the area was around Toivola...

The post is a picture that states: -- WARNING DNR CHECK POINT AHEAD *you dont have a 5th amendment anymore - Sorry* -- end

Probably going to stay away from toivola this weekend when we are off trail this coming weekend.

Anyone know more?

The off trail riding is going to get ugly and quick.....you better know where your riding and make sure it isn't private property....I work with a couple guys who live and have camps in Wakefield/Tula/lake gogebic area that are ready to flip out from guys riding all over their property, breaking into camps, etc.

Is there an easy way to know if pvt prop or not? Since it is ok to ride off trail in the national forest. If i see signs "stay on trail " its obvious, but how do you know when your back into ok to leave trail area.
As far as the ones breaking into camps whether they come in on sleds or via road thats a whole issue in and of itself.

i would assume the national forest maps..but the old adage "dont kno dont go" has to always apply..im on trail still so im no expert..but i kno this year has been extremely bad

If you ride off trail know where you are or don't do it simple as that! As far as breaking into camps why would sledders do that? No TVs leaving by sled & if it is stuff like beer & liquor it has got to be local kids using bad judgement......bust the punks install cameras!

One think to consider not all power lines are public property even the big transmission lines that run for miles.

no diff than flashing your lights at a oncoming car warning of a speed trap. is that guy a Idiot? usually my hero for the day. I always give the flash for revenue collection ahead.

The beauty of riding " off trail " is that you dont always know where you're at. Never lost.

I guess I don't get the on trail DNR check point and how it relates to catching off trail vandals that would mess with logging equipment.
Just making their presence known or handing out stop sign tickets to solve the problem?

What's with all the targets placed on boondockers backs. We are all sledders good and bad. Checkpoints are common to check for registrations. Good for them! Gotta make sure we all pay our dues! They certainly are not geared towards just the boondocker. Let's place the target on those that deserve it and not every long tracker, just saying!

the whole stealing thing I hope they get caught - I really do.

Ive came across private property by accident a couple of times, just like on a trail you can get mixed around. One land owner came out and for sure thought I was in for a scolding... I didnt run, I simply stopped as I knew he wanted to talk, shut my sled off and showed respect. He had mention I was on his land and I apologized, explained my situation and asked if he could point me in the direction to the quickest way remove myself from his property. He ended up being a cool guy and just asked that due to liabilities he really doesn't like people on his land without authorization - which I completely understand. Situation ended up peachy!

The no trespassing is a clear indication of private land (which I have seen more and more being put up especially around trails).

The sign - take it how you want it. I saw someone post in on facey spacey and thought I would share. Maybe it was just checking trail passes and wildlife is just passing info regarding the land owners situation. Thank you for whoever informed me regarding the stealing/off trail issues (this is what I was looking for). This way I can be more careful and understand if someone comes screaming at me.

One way to know if the land it private is with a county plat book. You can get them at the court house "Register of Deeds" or often at Chamber of Commerce info centers.

I think the sign is great props to who put it up I will do the same. 6 dnr at a checkpoint what a waste of state money get real I seen it and warned many people at the mosquito. As far as people messing with equipment I have a hard time beliving it was sledders and if it was that's dumb of them hope they get caught. I perhaps think its made up by people on here myself to try and get less people to ride offtrail
