MI Snowmobile Registration Decal

I have a new Yamaha Vector and have not put the MI registration on the hood yet. The paint job is too beautiful to put the decal on it and I would like to place it lower on the hood where the finish is kinda "stippled".
Will this surface hold the registration decal?
What else should I do to insure that it stays on?

More than likely not. Sled Solutions (an advertiser on this site, look in the Northwoods Directory) has a registration plate that pop rivets where ever you want to put it. My son has custom paint on his hood and used the plates on the lower half of his sled with no problems.

Wait, there is more. The ugly green trail permit goes directly above or below the headlight. I was in tears having to put such an ugly sticker on my sled. It looks like a "Barney the dinosaur bandaid".

I just slapped it on the windshield, covered up part of the cobra so it just says "cob" should've covered up the CO so it said bra instead LOL

sooooo youd rather drill holes in your sled than put a sticker on the hood?
that would be a yes for me. On edge chassis sleds reg. Stickers don't stick well to side of belly pan. This is why the plate came into a useful item. The holes are rivit size.

Are you talking about the trail permit or the registration stickers? Registration stickers go on the sides, trail permit goes above the headlight.

Since 1986, I've ALWAYS put all stickers on the aluminum tunnel, right where your ankles would kinda rub against.

NEVER got a fine, EVER in 35+ years and approx 20,000 + miles of riding.

No issues with glue residue, just use lacquer thinner and a shop rag to remove it.

Michigan trail permit goes directly above or below headlight. Registration goes on forward half of snowmobile one sticker on each side of sled. Tunnel does not count in MI. Some are luckier than others. A bud of mine got a ticket for obstructed view of registration (his leg) and not displayed correctly. It was like a $90 fine.

I'd like to see a copy of that (alleged) ticket

I've always owned Poo and put them on the belly pan. Just use a blow drier and heat the area slightly. Once you put the sticker on heat the sticker slightly while rubbing it. Never had a problem.....don't rivit a plate to your sled.

I have had mine on the aluminum tunnel for 15 years and have been stopped at check points in Michigan (3 times total) and never gotten a ticket. The cops have never told me that it was not in the correct location. Guess some cops are nicer than others.

Wow Kraven, settle down. I think it should have said "you CAN get a ticket" not WILL. I'm sure it's not your rodeo but not sure what riding horses has anything to do with it.

The regulations clearly say where the trail permit and registration need to be places. The only place where I've heard it's OK to run these stickers on your tunnel is in MT and WY. I know MN, WI, and MI all say "front 1/2 of sled" and mi says specifically "directly above or below the headlight.

Maybe your just a super nice guy and the DNR lets you go but be aware that at some point you MAY run across a DNR who's not having a good day and they do have the right to issue a ticket.

Just stating what happened. This was in Munising area. Also Cadillac snow cops write you for everything especially around Caberfae ski resort. Some riders are luckier than others. I don't wear a seatbelt and no ticket??? But it is still the law. Point is let's get this guy doing it right and not what one can get away with for the time being.

Yeah, and let's all drive 55 m.p.h. down the expressway because that's what the speed limit sign and the law says..............................................................

Because we wouldn't want to risk getting a ticket..................

you're point?!?.................... I guess if you have to explain it, might not be worth the explanation.

Not only has my improperly placed registration been "seen" I have been stopped by the MI DNR, with my buds several times.

NO ticket ever issued, period!

This isn't my first rodeo.

Apperantly you are an exception of the rule. Swing on by...I know a few DNR officers who could whip you up one of those tickets you want to see.
