Funny I'm familar had both those sleds. 6'6" bud had SS 670 the old doo F was great for the big man in the day but F has enormous ski lift when you push it but plenty of power. The 2000 Ski-Doo Grand Touring is either CK3 or S I had the 98 Ski-Doo Grand Touring 583 S & was a great sled for the day & 98 F3 700 CK3 which was good motor but hard rider. With CK3 & F you will be delighted with any rider forward upgrade sled. Not so much in WI mostly smooth trails but those sleds would be a load in WI Twistys & wear you down quick. CK3 & F in UP would be torture when it gets ruff so understand why 150 miles is a big day for you. Time to upgrade to rider forward & you will be in the 250 mile club.:)

I'm 6'7" and 300lbs and that's why I had moved to the 2-up . Playing with limiting straps always helped ski lift on power. The 2000 I had was a ZX chassis.
670 SS was by far my favorite motor, that thing sounded sweet and just pulled like crazy. Dad had the F3 600 and you're right about not being a good trail machine.
I was looking for a 95-96 Mach 1 or Z with the exteneded track just recently. I might change my mind after renting these MXZs. Not sure on the leg room with these rider forward machines though.

With just two of us going this year I think we can break 300 miles in one day...We are starting at midnight with a 8 hour drive from IL and then hopping on the sleds at 0900 to ride all day!!?? Might just keep our sled gear on in the car:)

WOW at your size the SS 670 was the dream sled for the big man & I know how difficult it is to fit a big guy with main bud at 6"6". Greg never got over trading in SS670F for 2002 Renegade 800 ZX luved the 670SSF but he had like 10,000 miles on it so had to upgrade. Ok.... for your size try a 2006 & up Apex Attak or LTX 136 track has plenty of 4s power for you & install bigboy spring in mono skid & mount Venture windshield. I know your biggest problem is leg room & high windshield & no fun for you getting your head blown off without large windshield. That set up worked well for Greg & Cat Twinspar seem to fit him well too. 95-96 Mach 1 or Z with the extended track I think was also F so yes you would like but not like the SS 670 much heavier & triple triples were screamers on top end 670 much better engine & trail sled. Stay away from anything CK3 just not forgiving rides like a brick. Greg now wants a new Yamaha Venture 2up fits him very well with huge windshield but very pricy sled!

Yeah, we stayed at U.P.Chucks that night and drove back to Townsend the next day, and back to Sheboygan the next. this year we are planing to leave from Sheboygan and drive to Copper H in one day. We found a short cut to Whritstown, that should knock two hours off the trip. Should be a 14 hour day if conditions are perfect

Last year, Saturday Crivitz to Hayward - 293 miles. Sunday, Hayward back to Crivitz, 290 miles by a different route. One guy on a T660 touring sled (nicknamed "the couch" and one guy on a 98 VMAX. We decided to sleep in a little late on Monday!!

It took us 4 hours to get there once when the trails were horrible. Now we take the Manitiwok river from Valders to the Hwy 57 grade. 22Mi. of 80 mph, got to duck under a few bridges tho.

100_0135.jpg Feb 2009, 516 miles on a 2008 Yamaha Phazer RTX with re-valved shocks for smoother ride, Big windshield made it look like Pee Wee Herman's bike... On a wednesday, perfect snow, perfect trails in the U P from the Northgate Motel in Calumet, down to twin lakes, ontonagan and back to mass city, east then down to Sidnaw, back up to trail to Ishpeming then Marquette then back to Calumet. Started about 9 am, got back to northgate hotel about midnight. Solo trip. way fun.. I'm 6'4", 250 lbs, Phazer is a smaller machine, but riding position for me was great.. Darted like cross eyed badger till Pat's Yamaha put on dual carbides, then straight as an arrow... Sold it after 2 seasons with 7200 miles on it.. Miss that great little sled!!

Rode From Land O lakes to Houghton and back 235 miles in 7.25 hours 4 gas stops, 30 minutes of off-trailing, and 45 minute lunch. Too bad we had to be back home by 6 pm this past sunday! Plan on riding from Paulding to Copper Harbor and back Feb 4th. Me, my uncle (on an 86 indy trail), and my dad did 290 in one day. We left Crivitz WI, and I have no clue where we went from there. I was 12.

garageguy, oh yeah I see now how you saved that time, thru potter to hilbert and such.if you want another rider if we get snow let me know?
