Most Miles Run

My shortest run was from the Gateway Lodge to my grandpartents house on Lac Vieux Desert. About 15 miles. Parents brand new XLT blew the bottom end.
Next morning we stopped by Ron's shop in Land O' and picked up another sled and ended up having a great trip.

Nic - You hit the nail on the head - the day you helped me with the frost bite on my chin at Tailwinds Bar! Yes, I heard that they both shut down, what a shame. Enjoy this weekend. I'll be headed to the Iron River, MI area this weekend where I'm originally from, hoping for the storm as well.

I had always wanted to ride from the Gogebic area to Munising. 2 years ago we left Gogebic Lodge at 9:45am and made it to the Arctic Cat dealer in Munising. Had dinner and left and got back to Gogebic Lodge by 11:15pm.

One other ride where I just thougth it was a cool, fast run. We were staying in the Gogebic area but wanted to run up to Copper Harbor one day. Left a little late and hit Carpor harbor about 8:00ish, so we stayed up there over night. The next morning, we left at about 7:00am to head back to Gogebic and we made it back before the Hoop opened for lunch. We rode groomed trails the entire ride back to the Gogebic area, it was awsome.

I've made the early morning ride from Copper Harbor back to LG a few times and it's always been perfect. They key is getting on the trails early. If it were up to me, we would be on trails by 7 am, but I compromise with some of the guys and we leave by 8.

When the wife and I were in our 30's we used to ride 300+ days most every day we would ride. Rode about 3,600 a year. We would be out on the trail at 6:00 AM and rode until about 1:00 AM.
Then age and fuel prices crept up on us. Now we normally get on the trail around 8:30 am and ride until 8:00 PM or earlier, with our average day is 160 miles. Last week we had one day we put on 210, but that is even rare any more. We ride about 2,500 miles per year if we can get away enough.

And i'm thinking 150-180 miles a day is somthing special. This is insane.

What & where you riding? I hear ya not fun day on sitdown non rider forward trailing arm sled but I do 150-180 miles between noon & 5PM as many days as possible with simple loop Phelps WI to Kenton then BC or Sidnaw MI & back on Yamaha Attak. Everybody knocks Yamaha rear suspensions but fine for this old guy & just an easy afternoon jaunt.:)

Years ago Cats Pride had the "Animal Tour", that my dad and I did. We started in Eagle River and rode around in the U.P.
I ended up with a bearing going out and ended my day at 275 miles, if I remember right. Dad finished the ride and ended up with 519 miles.

Over ONE THOUSAND MILES

A friend of mine from Eastern Iowa has done a few "high milage" challenges in Ontario. Its a little gruge match between two groups of riders from Iowa.

Long story short, 4 guys in one 24 hour period on TRAILS, they never repeated loops, nothing about it was a course or a track. They did just over 1,000 miles in 24 hours stoping only for fuel, restroom breaks, and some very quick meals.

Nothing fun about it if you ask me, thats just crazy.

My personal high woudl be in the 350 range and a 5 days total of 1500 miles in canada back in 2002.

Now days I average less then 40 miles a day :) steep and deep! Eric

Crystal Falls to the Soo, got lost on the way, 426 miles. Next day back was 331, then drove 376 miles home in the truck same day. Sled at the start of that trip had over 15,000 miles. Riding buddy was a little concerned.

Back in 2003 my nephew and I did the Superior snow challenge out of Wawa ont. in one day. 467 miles total. The kicker was in never got above -20f that day. Still have the frost bite scar on my neck to show for it. Fun times.

Longest run, I've gone 26.2 twice now.
Ooohh, on sled! Gone 260 in one day once. Buddy picked up a new Rage on the way north.
From Wed. night to Sun. morn we had 750 miles that weekend. Not bad for a couple of old guys.

My most recent ride was a 2000 Ski-Doo Grand Touring. Put the most miles on a 96 Formula SS 670 though.
Always stayed near Land O' Lakes and rode south most of the time. For years we rode someone who knew a lot of the firelanes in the area and that was always fun.

Funny I'm familar had both those sleds. 6'6" bud had SS 670 the old doo F was great for the big man in the day but F has enormous ski lift when you push it but plenty of power. The 2000 Ski-Doo Grand Touring is either CK3 or S I had the 98 Ski-Doo Grand Touring 583 S & was a great sled for the day & 98 F3 700 CK3 which was good motor but hard rider. With CK3 & F you will be delighted with any rider forward upgrade sled. Not so much in WI mostly smooth trails but those sleds would be a load in WI Twistys & wear you down quick. CK3 & F in UP would be torture when it gets ruff so understand why 150 miles is a big day for you. Time to upgrade to rider forward & you will be in the 250 mile club.:)

Twin Lakes, MI to Lakewood, WI (hour N. of Green Bay).

Getting lost several times made things interesting.

Day's total: 303 miles.

I run 13.1 once in a year in a mini-marathon.

On a sled we did about 375 one day. Can't remember the exact number. I don't think we set out to go that far but we made a wrong turn. Conditions were great, so it was a great day!

I know its not the same situation, but I put 240 miles on my sled one year in the yard, plus 75 on my new sled in one weekend in the same year!

AlCan 200. Race from Alaska to Canada and back. Last year's overall winner had an average speed of 110.03 mph. Yes that is correct average speed of 110.03 for well over 100 miles. Check it out http://www.alcan200.org/. Go to previous races. I never did it but wish I had.
