Motofist gear?

Anyone have any experience with Motofist gear? I talked to two people from Motofist at the sled show in Milw. Seemed intriguing, but I'm not sure why anyone would buy something so new for so much money until it's been around for awhile (it seemed to be priced comparable to Klim). The gear seemed to have a lot of cool features and an incredible warrantee. The material is e-vent, which apparently is a competitor to gore-tex. They say it breathes a lot better than gore-tex, while still staying waterproof.

According to the people at Motofist, e-vent was started by former gore-tex employees who discovered a better fabric, and motofist has some ex-Klim employees. Who knows what is true and what is not, but the story was interesting and the gear seemed pretty cool.

Just wondering if anyone had any experience with Motofist.

This is awfully trivial, but I was less than impressed with their logo. I would not buy the product based on that alone. It may be great gear, but their logo will keep their audience narrow. The Klim logo is much more subdued.

I have a friend who was at the show at the Motofist booth that is wearing it this season. If it lasts for him I'm buying it next season. I almost bought their "last years gear" at half price on their website but figured I'd wait.

Are you serious? Stay dry my friend!

Here is my take. I am in the market for some new riding gear this year. I started looking last year but ran out of time and snow to make a concious effort to buy. I am torn between Motorfist and Klim. I hate how EVERYONE wears Klim gear now. You literaly see it EVERYWHERE. That is the only downfall to owning Klim gear that I can see. I have 2 buddies who have Klim gear but bought and used the Motorfist gear last year. They loved it! I got to try their Klim gear a couple times and it worked well. I also got to try out one of my buddies motofist gear and it worked just as well as the Klim. To each his own but I think I will probably go with the motorfist. Just because I like to look different than everyone else on the trail.

I agree with the points made above. Klim is everywhere now, and since the product pretty much looks the same every year, it is likely to be that way even more so. It's going to be hard to find the right jacket when stop for food while snowmobiling!

I don't really like the motorfist logo either. I'm only in my early 30's, but I thought the logo looks like something for high schoolers or the monster-sticker crowd. If I was more "mature," I'd probably think that even more.

i needed some bibs and when riding in power my a$$ would get wet. i got the bibs so we will see. funny i didn't even look at the logo

WOW...you guys are taking offense to the logo thing as if you were the designer. Just one's opinion. If I am going to pay good money for gear, I want it to work well and also look good to ME. There are many more products out there than just Klim and Motorfist that work very well. I am also a skiier/snowboarder so I use a lot of products marketed to those sports as well. In my humble opinion, the logo would be more suited for a go-fast parts company...not attire. Again my .02!

Anyone have any experience with the motorfist gear yet? What about the e-vent fabric? I'm close to pulling the trigger on the 1/2 price jacket from last year, but I'm a little unsure about trying something new. I know Klim and goretex are tested, but you don't see klim gear at 1/2 price.

Sorry to bother anyone about the logo...not a big deal...just like things a little more subtle. For the price, you might as well get what you like, right?

OMG! sounds like a bunch of old hens. I will be the test guy. I am ordering the last yrs.bibs at $150 and selling my used klim bibs to pay for them. lol The logo is geared for the serious younger mountain riding folks. You know the ones who get their pictures in Snowest Magazine. I think the guys who wear tan carharts are the coolest anyways, lol

Wayne - this stuff is actually pretty good. The old gear isn't as strong and ripped but I'm hoping this years stuff will be better. Their technology is better than Klim from what I'm hearing FIRST hand.

Hold off. Had a friend who wore it last year and he ripped it in several spots. I'm waiting to hear his review of this years gear. He posts here every once in a while and might chime in eventually.
