Good grief....isn't there a 25-30 hp difference between the two?

Weren't you one of the guys saying these run right with an apex??? And the fuel economy was better??? I'm here to tell...it won't run with an apex (unless its modded)...and the fuel economy is not what ski doo claims either....it's a very nice sled, has a nice ride, and alot of ammenties for touring riders...but stop with the "best 4 stroke" stuff...that stuff is opinion, and rider preference...nothing more...I know I will enjoy my sled, and my ski-doo buddy will enjoy his.

BTW...it's a 12 HP difference...Apex is 155HP... the 1200 is 143 HP according to a report I read...no wonder you doo guys want to compare it to the 128 HP Vector...lol

Have you taken the Apex XTX off trail at all? If so, how does it handle the powder? I run off road 5-10%, so not a lot, but with my attak, was stuck too often and with a bad back, digging out these pigs are just a bad idea all around.

I haven't taken it off trail, and don't plan to....I also took my attak off trail...and when you stick them...they are pigs to dig out...lol...so I try not to do that...The XTX has a longer track, so I imagine it would be better than the attak...but keep in mind it is much heavier...the apex's really aren't off trail sleds...I would try to stay on trail with them...I don't plan on going off trail with mine at all....I don't care for power busting anymore.

I have been watching this thread and see if I can have a few questions answered. A little background - owned an '06 attak. Loved the motor, hated the suspension in the rough stuff. Just didn't hold up (broke the W arm, many rebuilds on shocks), bottomed out often and with a bad back, sent it down the road. Debating getting out of sleddding completely, but rode a buddy of mines Nytro xtx in some really rough woops. Could not believe how that machine just sucked up the bumps. So I picked up a '12 xtx Nytro and overall, not a lick of issues, handles the woops just great, but in all honesty, really miss the motor of the Apex - that thing just pulls and pulls.

So I am on the fence - the Nytro is trouble free, 3 years left on the warantee and does everything pretty well (do about 10% of my riding off-trail). When it is rough, can stand up for miles and miles without any fatigue, which saves my back. I could not do that with the Apex. So if you throw that xtx skid in the Apex, does it fix the bottoming out issue and being able to run at a decent speed in the woops, or does it feel like it still "dives in" each hole rather than stay on top? How much difference does the EPS make? In my old attak, you felt the weight, but I am in overall pretty decent shape and never felt like i wanted to quit because my arms were tired. Can the Apex xtx do a little off roading without getting stuck all the time? I just really miss that motor. I have also thought about a turbo or supercharger, but as you add complexity, you decrease the reliability, and that is why I ride yamaha in the first place.

Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks in advance!

Apex xtx & Nytro xtx very different machines...turbo the Nytro xtx your best bet. Put some miles on Viper deluxe 136 track yesterday nice machine but not refined like Apex xtx but with turbo the Viper would be ok for me....heated seat burned my butt don't need that.lol

The Apex xtx will do much better in powder vs Attak not a powpow machine but deep Frs & lakes does just fine. We had both 2012 Apex xtxs on trail yesterday mine set hard the other medium. Too much kick on medium settings he is changing to my harder set up ...you can tell a lot with duplicate machines on same trail conditions.

And that is what I am afraid of - that my best sled would be the nytro xtx with a turbo or supercharger. I struggle with this just a little - if I add either to my current sled, I simply know my reliability will go down. And that is why I own a yamaha - never leaves me stranded. So with either a supercharger or turbo, can I still get 10,000 trouble free miles out of a sled? That is my expectation, which I was basically able to do with my Attak. I have a lead on a supercharger for around $2000, just not there yet on pulling the trigger. Maybe I have a case of want to have my cake and eat it too.

Turbos I checked out were more like 4K.. I would not install myself would take to Pat's has lots of experince with push turbos & yes I do think you can get 10K + miles out of engine no problem. Nytro stand up machine & for me lacks poines take to 175 hp would be fun machine to punch.
