Think of downgrading sleds for a while (family on the way and I want to buy used 2012 assault next year) so I am looking at a Polaris pro x 700 , 2003 with 3200 miles to use this year and have as spair for the next couple of years.

Need your input on the sled? Price?

If you looking to buy 2007 yamaha apex gt, Just posted in the Classifieds

Ate 1 alive on Trail 3 from BC to Greenland with 2007 Attak GT then he blew his chain case. That group showed up at Pat's while I was getting an oil chnage & that guy bought a used Attak. Pro X was best of Poo at the time but was dated compared to 2007 Attak Gt tech. I think you will really like Assault specs caught my attention but I'm a 4s guy.

rp7x put over 6,000 miles on one and I think he was pretty happy with it. He will chime in later I'm sure. They are SO easy to work on compared to modern sleds!

rock solid reliable, good front and rear suspension and good handling. very easy to work on also. i got 7500 miles on 2 700 non-ves 1 needed base gaskets but thats it other one hasnt been touched been very good motors (same thing minus the powervalves). Wish they still made the 700 liberty nonetheless wish they still made carbed sleds.

You already know what I think, put 7700 on mine in 2 winters, heard it is still going with over 17,000 miles on it. Never did get to cash in on the two yr. Motor warrenty.

well not a big poo guy but have some buds who were.
from what I remember the 03 was down on power from the 01 and 02.
I think the 01/01 were in the 132 to 134 range and the detuned 03 were in the 124 t0 126 range.
I thought in the 03 they changed the pipe for clearing the shock tower in the pro x and diff air box .
but they were all getting spanked in 03 by the 140 hp F7 that can be had for about the same money.
if I remember the 02 poo 700 was running about the same 660 and 1000ft times as the poo 800

faster yes, but not better imo. Rear suspension is lousy, handling is worse than a ZR and sitting position is very awkward.

Not trying to disagree with your opinion, but one of my riding buddies has a Sabercat 700, which I think is the same as an F7 but with cheaper shocks, and it rides much better than the Edge I had did. Of course my edge was a 500 Liberty with the cheaper shocks (as opposed to a pro x), but I thought the handling and rear suspension was very good on the Sabercat for a sit down sled. I didn't notice the riding position being any different. I much prefer my Fusion to the Sabercat, but then again, his Sabercat is still kicking with over 11,000 miles on it. The steering has gotten sloppy, but the engine is still strong.

I think the Pro x2's have a cult-like following among the Poo faithful though, so if you bought it, you should be able to easily get your money back out of it. One thing about those edge chassis', as someone else mentioned, they are very easy to wrench on if you have to or change jets or something.

Edges are only good when you have the appropriate torsion springs for the rider. Anybody over 180 lbs on stock edge torsion springs is gonna feel it. Also that limiter strap has to be in the tightest hole otherwise those skis will never be on the ground. Firecat/Sabrecats sit too low to the ground for me. Makes me feel like I'm on an xtra-10 again. I rode one my buddys got an 04 F6 i am kinda poo bias i love how firecats look best looking sled of that era but i hate how the sit/ride. I got a couple miles on a twin spar, most comfortable thing ever (never ridden a rush) but i could not buy a sled that looked so goofy. I dont wanna say ugly it looks ok it just has a different look to it kind of like the fusion.

I didn't notice the Firecat sitting any lower than an edge, but it has been awhile since I rode an edge, so I could be wrong.

I agree those twin spars are ugly. I prefer my sleds to have a traditional hood. LOL. I haven't ridden one though.

I have one (600) with 144x2 track and lower than RMK gearing. Does very well off trail, sort of like a 10 year Assault would/should be. Suspension can take a beating.
