We're opening a snowmobile lodging based facility in North West Wisconsin and we're asking sledders for help?

What do you look for in lodging when you choose a place to go riding?

What amenties do you desire?

Do you have any idea for a cool name?

Direct trail access from room. Groomed would be nice.

Ample lighted trailer & sled parking.

Queen size beds. Boot dryers would be a bonus.

Continental breakfast.

Simple dinner/bar options with fireplace.

1) Trail access
2) Parking
3) Price $50-$75 a night
4) Food or Bar

That is the normal question's I ask when booking a room.

Is it going to be a cabin for rent or is it going to be multiple rooms, like a motel?

Cable or satalite for the evenings.
1/2 ways decent tv's
If it's a cabin - cheap washer and dryer are really nice for longer stays.
As said befor - very close to or right on a trail or very good trail access, plenty of parking space for trucks and bigger trailers - From my experience I would say that trail access and parking are paramount.

North West Wisconsin? Can you be more specific as to location in county or between towns A&B? Access to LES is huge!

Let's see - northwest Wisc. I bet you bought the Plywood Palace and are planning to refurbish it a little.

If it's a cabin or larger type place, lots of beds. We're usually traveling as a group of guys and really don't like to share beds.

A hotel room with one queen/king bed or a 3 bedroom cabin with three queen beds doesn't do a lot for us.

Easy trail access, food and bar very near-by (walking distance).

You already bought the place, so location is set, although good trail access is important (make sure if all possible there is a snow-covered path to the trail). I like the comment about multiple beds. If gas isn't nearby, it might help to keep a small amount on hand, even if it's 2 or 3 five gallon jugs (for emergencies). If food isn't nearby, maybe having some easy to prepare food available - tombstone pizzas for example. Have someone at the front desk who is knowledgeable about local trails, dealerships, and likes snowmobilers. Availability to some commonly needed items such as a few different quarts of oil, a limited selection of tools that can be borrowed for parking lot repairs would be good, along with having a phone number for someone who could help pick up a dead sled. If you have a small area where people can do some basic repairs (this can be a large shed with a reddy heater), that would probably by in your best interests to avoid motel room mechanics. Just a few rambling ideas...most important is to make the snowmobilers feel welcome by helping take care of the common problems is the idea. I would keep a close eye on things though to control the bad apples that show up from time to time...

In PM after good steak, kicking back, Bsing, drinking a few pops, grins & giggles about riding then take a few Lortabs so I can move my knee joints then falling asleep with TV on & good to go in AM. Also deceide next day route & who needs to fix what so we can hit trails in morning? No plan & people get pissy waiting for the weak link to get his sheet together. Usually the same guy every trip you have to manage & organize but that is what friends are for or you ride alone which is ok too. lol Works for us. If you don't want to ride you don't want me around I'm a big mile guy not happy unless we are on the move or playing in powder but don't like standing around at every fork in the trail pissen in snow. Reasonable pace is important to me. Also hate the Yahoo who pulls the hotel fire alarm at Red Light Ralley at 3AM.lol :)
