New Fan cooled sled

They still use more oil than liquid, put out more burnt exhaust stink and are less fuel efficient; oops almost forgot they are noisier too.

I have both 550 fan and 600 carbed liquid. Both burn oil at 50 to 1. Fanner uses way less fuel and is same for noise. Both same burn oil so smell the same.

Hmmm, not my experience in Ski-Doo maybe other brands though.
Strange how the 600 carb liquid doos have 120 hp and the 550 fan like 80. If they are both 5.8kish, the decision is simple.

I bought a new 19 Polaris 550 EVO for my youngest son. Great sled, and with all of the features (larger throttle, detuned, lower back end, etc..) perfect sled for him to ride and learn to ride well on. Not sure if the upgrade / enhancement kit will be worth the price, but I have 2 years to worry about that.

Having said that, my other kids have had a 13 600 Ski Doo carb and a 14 Polaris 550 fan. Like Bear said, the 600 used less fuel, and the throttle was wayyy easier to pull. The 550 was nice, but used more fuel and oil, with the throttle being more difficult to pull, with more fatigue on longer days.

600 is significantly smoother and faster, so depending on age and experience of riders, that should be the determination.

FYI, for the throttle effort, I have found the only difference in the 19EVO and my 15 550 Indy is the throttle lever itself. The part numbers for the main throttle block, the cables and carb springs are exactly the same. I ordered the 19EVO throttle lever last week and will compare the 2 when it arrives. I too have heard there aren't throttle effort issues on the EVO..

ya but why is that? they don't have cooling power like a liquid - they are carbed so they can't adjust to warmer temps, I suppose they run rich on fuel (warmer air is less dense) but then at -20F they would run lean-not to many people changing jets these days, so I don't see how they last so long

If it was between the two models listed in the OP (Poo Indy 550 or Cat Lynx 570), I’d buy the Poo every day of the week and twice on Sunday, and I’m a Cat guy. Those F Series “Barney the Dinosaur” generation of sleds are probably the worst thing AC has ever made in the sled realm.
