Heard of several with less than 500 miles on them! Over the last few years many times We have been sitting in a bar or food stop & seen & heard guys talking about them or their buddy just blowing up one of their 800 Doos! Seen many on the trail too!

Right but have you seen any 09 or 10 go down?

if 650 for the 800 how much for the 600 summit?for back country boondocking the 600 is great and prob the same price as the poo.most know I am a hard core cat guy but after the last trip boondocking in da up with a`10 600 summit a 09 800 summit and a 10 800 back country I find my self wanting a 10 summit 600 with a 146 they really float well and if they do get stuck just a push on the bars and light gas they just crawl out of there hole .my kitty wont do that one

600 e-tec?

Not sure if you could find a carry over (2010) Summit 600 e-tec but that might be a good choice also, and may be the same price or slightly less than the Summit 800R. Just another thought if the 600 would satisy your power needs. Also, as others have posted, the doo is quite a bit lighter than the poo so the 600 doo e-tec might do the trick for you. These are great choices to have to make!

go with the ski-doo! that sled right there is bullet proof i think! and you will have so much power with the 800 you will be very pleased! especially in the deep stuff :) and the XP chassis is very good

HAA!! this is funny, I think i'll pass on the poo 800 for now. And believe it or not, the etec summit is more money then the 8 right now.

olsmann- The pre 2009 model 800's did have an issue with the crank that caused problems, however, they fixed the problem in the 09 models and have not had the problem resurface to my knowledge. Good luck with your decision.

Mr freeze blew up his 800r last season, after that he did a lot of investigating and found many were experiencing the same thing. I rode that sled and loved it, incredible power, powder riding is hard to carve due to low center of gravity but could probably get used to it quickly and turn it over better. if the motor will stay together, it has many desirable characteristics

Two 800 doo's under 500 miles with blown motors. Not sure if these were 08's or 09's but they were brand new and were not cheap. It looks like something was going on with this motor. I agree that the 600 etek seems to be a proven winner and the chassis reviews are outstanding.

I haven't had any issues with my '08 800R XP. I did my research waded through the tech tips on Doo-talk / Snowest / Backcountryrebels and I learn "what to watch out for." Biggest thing it seems was 1) the output shaft run out on the '08's, I measured that and I'm with in spec on mine. 2) The secondary clutch alignment to the primary. 3) a pesky little wire harness issue with a bolt above the oil tank, which I didn't have a problem either.
I say go for the 800R.
