MAN they have ruined the T cat name in my book, they should have left a legend alone, I didn;t like it when they named there ATV it, and honestly, this AIN"T a T cat
T cats were triples and made them classic's and top guns

I will still think a original T cat will run with this thing and maybe even beat it

I just picked up a 97 REAL T cat with 1100 original miles on it stored in a heated garage
170 hp stock, really easy to get over that(this is my 7th or so T cat) for under 2 grand, I could buy 5 more and still spend less, or build a MONSTER and have more money left over

I agree snowmobiling isn't a cheap sport by any means, never was and never will be
BUT its a LOT more costly these days, and driving out the sport from average folks if you ask me

less places to ride, way more costly machines

here is what I just got, and its a summer project of sorts and come next fall will be a lot better machine overall 1997 T cat 002.jpg

I sold my 2008 Apex a few weeks ago. Just got to heavy for me at age 73. Will go back to a 2017 (or leftover 2016) Polaris 600 Switchback next fall.

I disagree....the Thundercat meant SPEED...the new one is just that...I doubt the old thundercat will beat it...it's smart marketing on cat's part to use that name.

and BTW I was always told the 98 1000 was the fastest of the old T-cats....a buddy of mine has one, and he destroys the other two T-cats in my group (2001's).

the 98's were known to make the most HP , actually owned one bought new when it came out

as for T cat being known for speed
YES
but this NEW T cat
is a clone of the YAMAHA, and I very much MIGHT be wrong here, but I think its sharing parts with Yamaha
not a TRUE Arctic Cat sled as the old T cats were!

as for which one will be faster, I am pretty sure if you sink the $$ into a OLD triple that the price of a NEW T cat costs, you can have a faster sled hands down!
T cat's can make serious HP and turn some super low times in
many have been known to run for thousands of miles problem free too, they also can be made to handle a TON better with some simple mods to front end, and rear skids, to NOT kill your back as they did in STOCK form
and still not cost a TON of $$$

The T cat was a classic, like a vintage HOT ROD< some things to me are best left to ride off there fame

I like new sleds , not a hater, just would have rather-ed them left a legend THAT!

Have you ever owned one.....I haven't. Just curious is all. I rode with one back then...it was an effin' beast!!! :)

Yes sir! Awesome sled that sounded mean - WHEN IT RAN! I won't got any further. To me, AC bringing back the T-CAT name in any form, is like Polaris bringing back the FUSION name. Enough said.

XCR is back.

I guess I sorta understand the Cat fans being upset that Yamaha is the new Japanese engine supplier over the Suzuki Thundercat.
Loyalty runs deep with Cat clansmen.

yes cat used other brands motors before
BUT they didn't have LIKE sleds at same time , or like this new t cat is,
to Yamaha's twin ISH sled
after all Yamaha didn;t call there new big HP machine V MAX 4, or 3 maybe LOL
as that was the competing big gun from Yamaha when the REAL T cat was out and about!!

if they started making Turbo charged 4 cylinder Camero's or Vette's or?? pick your vintage muscle car(and yes they do make turbo kits for modern like cars,
BUT the vette's never stopped being made and up graded so,a different class maybe LOL
, the others are bring backs and well, to me, there NOT the same there either !

would you think of it the same??
HP or not, NOT the same as a BIG block under the hood

Cat has made sleds for Kawasaki, Rupp, Scorpion, Sno Jet, Suzuki, a few others and now Yamaha. Many of them were re stickered El Tigres.
Stole this shot from another Yamaha thread on here. ;)

I actually wonder HOW much lighter or NOT the new T cat is to the old one's
and yes both triple's, BUT one is a 1,000 cc of 4 stroke, and one is a 1,000 cc 's of 2 stroke motor
they ain't apples to apples in any way! LOL

and yes the old performance sleds of yrs back have classic lines too
them old V max' 4's were come cool looking machine if you ask me, and they even made a bunch of HP,
had a friend with one with a turbo all done up at Bender Racing back in the late 90's

It will never sound as good as the old triple triple. They just sounded evil. Still miss the racket my 97 made. That alone was worth $4000 bucks.

Yes, I sure missed that triple pipe sound! I owned the 93, 96, 98 and 2000. My 98 was by far the best although my 2000 I did put 23,500 miles on that sled, never touch the engine. I don't think I'm quite ready to Pony up 17,000 for a new one though. My two twin spars are still Rock Solid.

Wish I could post by framed poster of the slogan " Only a certain type of person rides a Thundercat". It is a picture of a triple motor that's formed into a person,s head with glowing eyes. The free app they mention for posting pictures from a smartphone is not free!
