Northern Wisconsin/U.P. Points of interest

Just curious what everyone has come across on the trails as cool points of interest. Wanna get a some ideas of areas I haven't seen yet to check out for myself and to take other people for the first time......scenic overlooks, waterfalls, bridges, monuments, etc.....

Timm's Hill- highest point in Wisconsin--there's a lookout tower you can climb. Miner's Castle near Munising for a neat view of Lake Superior. Plummer mine near Hurley. Big Springs cystal clear water with trout and a moveable platform that you hand crank to the middle of the lake. South of Munising.

Lake of the Clouds in the Porcupine Mountains. Be sure to take trail 102 to 11 to get up there. Great ride and awesome view if you haven't seen it.

Trail 13 west of Bergland use to cross over the ontonagon river ( bridge got washed out a few years back in the spring) it is a really picturesque section of the river. You can still park your sled and walk down to take a peek its beautiful especially in the winter. Snowtech mag likes to use pics from it when writing articles about the western UP. Its the intersection of trail 8 and 13 (east shore road).

The Plywood Palace. No trip would be complete without witnessing the timeless wonder of the magnificent spendor and architecturally perfect castle-like structure.

Just a couple places we've been to.

I would also suggest the Snowmobile Hall of Fame near St. Germain.

Two bottles of hand sanitizer on the bar... That place looks like a real treat!! Whats that other place that it is a bar in the womans home and she throws the empty cans out the window. Its right on a river along the trail. She has tricks and stuff she does. Old school. She told me her and her sister were both born in that house....

George Young and bring bathing suit if your looking to find a place East of Land O' to stop at for a few hours....Swim chill in the hot tub and have some decent food. and if you pass through Land O' the old Gateway Lodge has a beautiful fireplace place to relax at and nice bar. Built in 1938, great accommodations. Huge parking lot, in the center of several trails and lobby in the morning is a great place to chat with other sledders and drink coffee and have a pastry.

We were in the Plywood Palace back in 1993 or 94. Looking at pictures it hasn't changed much LOL. Except back then he just reached thru a trap door into the snow to get beer. No fridge. But the beer was sure cold!

it has a liqour license? or is it byob
Yes he has a liquor license. Bud also always smoking in the bar. For a dollar he’ll sign your boob, he used to do it for free but thought he’d make a buck. Everything about that place is grandfathered in

Judging by the appearance of the "Palace" he hasn't been signing many boobs for bucks lately. But I'd stop, usually those guys have a good story to share.
