Just recieved info this a.m. that the corprate land owners whom own most of the land that we are now riding, are tired of the disrespect of their property. 1 emample:in the Freada South area, they logged and PLANTED last year, someone ran over their trees and trashed the area. There is a LAW "ON THE BOOKS" that STATES, NO MOTORIZED, REPEAT, NO MOTORIZED VECHILES on CFR LAND.It is all their land!! They have been nice enough to not enforce the law as of yet.Talk is out this could be coming to an end soon. I know " off trail" riders do not see trees 2" and under and have a tendency to run them over while hill climbing. But we must start respecting the big and small land owners properties or there will be NO MORE OFF TRAIL RIDING for WINTER OR SUMMER. Won't that be a sad day, and don't think it can't or won't happen.

Well, I new that would be coming sooner or later. With the explosion in "off trail" over the last ten years, its certainly not a surprise. I'm pretty sure you can kiss it all good buy in the yoop. Its certainly not going to get any better! It can and will, only get worse.:( When people constantly post videos of burning trenches down to the mud and running down saplings, you can only assume people are going to take notice at some point. In my opinion, there is no place for a mountain sled in the U.P. There simply is not enough base for the new machines. They are total overkill and causing plenty of damage. When you can trench down four feet and keep on trucking, its going to cause damage. Your base is only four foot max depth, in a GOOD year.

Next will be the state and Federal land if we don't band together and fight for it! Join SAWS and BRC now and support them. We need to fight to keep our lands open!!

I agree with most of what you just said, however, in my picture below, please show me the damage that was caused to this area by a snowmobile.

Skylar, please don't take it the wrong way. I wasn't trying to single you out. I was trying to express that these videos get posted all season long, to a public forum, by many people.
I do the same kind of riding and am certainly guilty of the same offenses. My point is that when we post our evidence to a public forum, people that maybe shouldn't see it, do see it.
You and I both know the loss of a couple saplings in a forest of many is not going to make a difference. In fact, may even help some of the more mature trees, but tree huggers and property owners can see the damage being done.
It drives me nuts that people like Chris Burandt and Bret Rasmussen constantly shoot footage of themselves running over trees also. As "stewards" of the sport, I would think they would be more responsible. It only gives the greenies evidence. In todays electronic age, how easily it could be edited out!

Only Skylar and cuzzinolaf could take such a serious topic and make it into something funny to make me laff?! :D
(I'm sure that didn't come out right!) Skylar, can ya TAKE videos with your new fancy cam on the back of a 2-up??

I'm not sure what's going on. I know there's increased traffic over the years...I think the reason we're reading more reports and that there are indeed more people doing stupid, unreasonable, offensive, etc stuff is because snow is limited to such a small area! No snow in the L MI, limited snow in MN, limited snow in E UP and limited snow in Northwoods WI. I'm not sure the videos ADD to this problem or not - or is it that there is just such a greater concentration of idiots in one area?

We all know there have always been the nitwits out there who don't follow the signs, play by the most basic of rules - respect, and that our machines are FAR different than they were when a lot of us started riding. I know that the last thing I wanted to do with the 800 Storm I learned to ride on was get that darn thing anywhere NEAR more than 3 inches of snow?!

I hate reading these things because snoluver is right - it just add ammo for people who hate us and don't know us and have never been on a snowmobile.

This was taken at Boonie Hill after last season. They are covering up the actual area to prevent further damage.

Seriously speaking, I guess a lot of us knew this would be coming. It is really unfortunate with some of the recent events people are posting about. Maybe there is a chance to prevent this from happening but if the corporations are already pissed off it is gonna happen sooner or later.
