Bradzoo, We too used to get my mom to watch the pups at our house, but that's probably not going to be an option for us much anymore either as she has got a lot on her plate right now. Don't know what we'll do as we could board them, but not super easy as one of our dogs was recently diagnosed with diabetes, so he has to have shots twice a day. The other dog isn't very fond of many other dogs. Therefore, we don't get away as much as we would like. We also went through a couple of home remodels a few years back and more recently built the home that we are currently in which was a long stretch of time as we went through the painstaking process of doing a lot ourselves and also a lot of custom things---trying to make it look like it was a cottage that had been here for many years. So, my point to this carrying on is that it took a lot of our time away. When we do ride, it is usually on Drummond Island, although we have ridden east side of U.P. and also went to meet John at the Lac La Belle bartending fundraiser a couple of years ago and we rode a very little bit while we were there. To give you an idea, we both bought new sleds when I worked at a snowmobile/watercraft/atv dealership-they are '01's and I don't think I have much more than 1600 mi. on mine!!! Ridiculous, huh! Well, hopefully that will change soon. Everything good with your sleds for the Ride In? Been wanting to do that for a few years now, too. Hope you guys have tons of fun and safe travels.

jb, We don't get to go as much as we would like to, I haven't been to the Island in a couple years my family has been going there for along time, since before I was born (prolly close to 60 years) we used to deer hunt there, and some cousins of mine still have a house there out west of Maxton Plains toward Bruce Pt. you know there are alot over hotels and cabins that allow dogs, if you wanted to take yours it might be worth checking into, we will prolly do that with Maggie once we get her fully trained. Everything seems to be good with our sleds, keep doin upgrades cause they both have less than 5000 miles on them.

Bradzoo, We've been going to the island for 10 years now-we were married at what used to be Woodmoor Resort. Absolutely love the place & the people. Everyone has been so nice to us, but that is probably the case most anywhere in the U.P. We could take the dogs to the resort which is where we always stay, but then if we ride??? We go a lot in the summer/fall (anniversary time, etc.) and always spend a ton of time driving around. It's funny b/c we've done that every trip for 10 yrs. and sometimes will mention something/somewhere to someone from the island and they won't know what we're talking about. You know how when people live somewhere you don't always get to know everything the same as someone who is vacationing or might be scoping it out to move there, etc. Anyway we all have had some laughs about that. My one problem is the very often lack of snow (well, for my preferance anyway--still beats down here), especially with everything being rock. But I do know the area you are talking about. All this talk makes me want to load the Suburban & head up!!! Where have you guy stayed or do you just stay at friends/family?

We are taking reservations for this upcoming snowmobile season. Our Hotel and rooms have all been remodeled. Our prices are $45 dollars and lower. Please stop by and see us. We are located directly on the snowmobile trail which can access some of the finest trails in the State.

Happy Birthday Serena! (A little late).

I haven't been on here for a while. I have had too much going on. This weekend will be the first weekend at home in four weeks. I'm looking forward to it. Plus, I have so many things that need to get done.

For those who know and are wondering, I still haven't made a decision on the move. I am waiting for HQ to get back to me about the moving policy. I can't make a decision until I find out what they would pay and what I would end up paying. I am getting frustrated.

Mitch - Sorry to hear about Scott. May he rest in peace.

Bradzoo - Maggie is an awesome dog! Very pretty! If you end up going to Hulbert over President's Day, what day are you going to get there? I took off Thursday and Friday just in case you all go there. I am thinking I should probably give the Taq a call.

One week from today we will be in the UP - I can't believe one year ago today I was without a job - but made the plan to be at the JD Ride-In 2011. Nothing like positive thinking and planning for the future! We worked HARD over the year to make this happen. The kids are so excited to finally be going to a JD Ride In! So cute to watch them prepare and plan.

I have spent this weekend cooking all the dinner meals for the week. I made my super yummy chili, shredded BBQ beef, taco meat, turkey 'n noodles. We will also have grilled cheese and tomato soup and ham and baked taters for meals. I LOVE cooking!

Can't wait to see everyone at the Ride In!

Ohhhh yeah - GOOOOOOOO PACKERS! :D
