Just bought this home my wife and I are in this past July for 370K in Plainfield, IL in Will County and our taxes are $13,700 which is about 8%, gotta love Illinois!! Been asking the wife to move but we'd both have to give up well paying careers. I am willing to greatly downsize and take a less paying job in Northern WI or the UP but she doesn't want to leave her parents back here, at least that's what I think the real reason is. Eventually when we retire we are going UP north, with or without her lol, but we are both 38 and have quite some time till that promised land.

Yes, Indy, but you are a youngster. Someday you will meet the future Mrs. Indy, and then all the fun begins. You'll get on the hamster wheel just llike the rest of us, and just keep running after the cheese.

You guys are scaring me. Glad I go to work and come home everyday with my paid off sled and truck. Only fund I need is called the U.P. riding fund :)

If Indy was thinking, he would be looking for a small house RIGHT NOW in Greenland/Mass City/Twin Lakes/Toivola/Painsdale/TriMountain areas. They are CHEAP!!

SKYLAR, You are right on. IF Indy was thinking straight (as many of us think he does!) he would be the proud owner of a piece of the UP now. (easier now then when he knocks her up in that truck and has to ask for permission!!!!) Acting as a part-time slum lord of a cheap 2 or 3 bedroom rental in the U.P. at a price of less than 35K or so. Seems to me there is currently a nice place for sale on this site right now.

Thanks to Ezra, This website is making a turn down a dark alley!

I know of at least one, but he tries his best not to use religion as a tool to judge others with, but rather a course of behavior to try and better himself and the world he touches. My rules are set to just try and keep things civil and be respectful of others. Seems like there are a million places to go on the internet to do otherwise.

Ezra's comment, in my opinion, walked right up to the line, peaked over it, but did not quite fully cross. I have to admit, I got a good chuckle out of it- might even know some moms, grandmothers and minister or two that might have cracked a smile too. Some may have found it offensive and I have no problem with that either and apologize if it did.

Now back to the discussion, what was it about? Oh yea, TAXES, now there's a dirty word!

I personaly dont find anything on here offensive, and although most threads take a turn into other subjects, (like this one about taxs ? ) it gets old when others want to spit and spew nonsense like snail trails and politics .... Ha Ha Funny Sure you say dont read it , but its like a downward slope as you read thru threads titled one thing, and now youre sucked in.
Maybe a Rant and Rave tab would create a place for the anything goes commenters.
