Past membership challenge

I have a challenge to all current members who might know some past members who have drifted away from this site for whatever reason. I know there are many of you who have been here much longer than me but I remember some names who used to post quite a bit one here and are no longer, Unfortunately I know some have passed on but know from some quick appearances some are still out there. I think some of it may have been the direction some conversations went and I think when John was with us he too realized this and wanted to heel the family/friendly feel of the site so he created the "barstool" where a signed up member could go when discussions or subjects went or got a little off the rail. If any of you know or communicate with past members please encourage them to return to the site! would be nice to see some familiar names posting on here once again! Nora, the moderators and all the behind the scenes people have worked very hard and continue to do so to keep the site going. Lets convince people to return! come back to the Dee family!

Majority of guys I know that have drifted off were because they got out of the sport, or because they use other forms of social media instead of discussion forums.

Been on here since 2007 and I can count on 1 hand the amount of guys who’ve left over a conversation on here they didn’t like. Not that common of a reasoning in my mind. Kind of sad some dont have thicker skin to move past things like that but to each their own.

And like you mentioned, a number have passed unfortunately. RIP to all those, hope there’s endless amounts of snow up there!

I would absolutely love to see this forum to keep kickin as long as I live, and to see a resurrection of past members. But as you’re all aware, discussion forums are already a thing of the past, and the younger generation isn’t remotely interested in forums whatsoever. Forums were created before most social media platforms were, and were a great way for people with common interests to connect with each other. I myself am 10 years younger than the “young ones” on most forums. Only reason I got into them so young was I needed help at the time to wrench on my own sleds so I could keep riding them, and boy am I glad I did! Have met so many great people over the years because of this site.

I've lost track of all the people that I've ridden with over the years. Most dropped out when we had some low-snow winters. It's a niche sport, family changes, finances, kids sports, all factor in, and something's gotta give.
Here's a few from the website archives.

Hey Indy, I have watched you grow up on this forum 😁. Your parents must be proud..

Polaris Dan, met him in a bar in Grand Marais MI about a dozen years ago. Stopped seeing posts some time ago.

There was a group of guys from downstate MI that had a roofing company, veteran themed as I recall. Bought a dvd from them at a snow show. Still my favorite. Their exploits were fun to follow. Team Kesslers

A riding buddy of mine had a work injury about 5 years ago and unfortunately he has had to get out of the sport. Helhuf

Can’t confirm, but I believe one of the longtime members or originators of team Kesslers was killed a month ago in a murder suicide (acted on by the girlfriend). Sad story. Name was Vito Schwartz. Used to run into those guys often 10 years or so ago around Mass City, but never got to know them. Not sure if anyone on here anymore can confirm if he was a part of team kesslers, I was forwarded the link and told by another member he’s certain he rode with them. Vito was co-owner of “Semper-Fi Roofing”https://www.fox6now.com/news/mukwonago-death-investigation-vito-schwartz-dead

Many of the members you listed, I’m friends with on book face and they no longer ride.

Garyl62 was very active for a handful of years, haven’t seen him on here in awhile.

Cuzzinolaf and Thebreeze used to post a ton as well. Still both have sleds, just don’t ride nearly as much due to various reasons and both pop in here every now and again.

i wanna know where my boy,, MoMoney is,,, The Chicago Bears fan boy,,, was Trubisky's biggest fan.,, or maybe little brother. I think some of us ran him off the site. :ROFLMAO:

From the individuals I know that used to post but no longer do some got tired of the discussions, they do get repetitive, some found other platforms that suited their needs better and some only really came on here for John's weather forecasts. I don't post near as much cause I have my sleding system down and really don't need the advice fo where/what/when to ride. I still creep on the site but not as much posting. I just go straight to the business/grooming sites for updates.
As for Polaris Dan, he is defintiely not a person for everyone. I still chat with him for Mass City updates and plenty of Bears chat on Sundays...i've never seena man melt down so much as Cody Parkey's missed field goal for the Bears at Rousseau's!!... which is useful fo rmy needs. He rubs a lot of peolpe wrong and I wouldn't expect him to come back to Johndee...those days have passed, Hes moved on to other sites.

If anyone cares, I'm still here, I think I joined around 05?... I lurk almost every day, but haven't posted in years because I wasn't logged in and never have anything good to say....lol

So sad. Their video “Anonymous- Occupy the Snow” is very entertaining. Muckwonago wasn’t far from where I lived in WI. Here I thought they were from MI. Thanks Indy..

Is there record of when we all joined this family? I'm thinking early 2000's for me, but don't know for sure. According to what I can find here, I've got posts back to 2010, but it's got to be earlier than that. Weren't members info lost in a website change back around the mid 2000's?

Anyone remember the early years when you registered you were given a member number? Still remember mine, member #17. That was a long time ago.

No records that I'm aware of. We lost some over a simple mistake in programming and then again when we switched to the current format. I think 1998 was the first year but I can't be sure of that.
