Polaris edge/M-10 vs IQ for trail riding

Hey guys, still on the hunt for a used trail sled. I have owned a Polaris with the edge suspension since 2001. I have been looking at 2003 to 2005 sleds with the M-10 suspension and also sleds several years newer with the IQ suspension. Again, this is for trail and lake riding. Wondering if it is worth spending the extra money to jump into the IQ models for the type of sledding I do. Would love to hear your thoughts in the IQ suspension.

Thanks

I feel the IQ ride better overall due to the better front suspension and the more forward position. They are comfortable sleds overall. I feel they are much better than the edge chasis for trail riding. You will be less tired at the end of the day.

I had a 09 iq and a 05 XC 700 m10 at the same time. The m10 did ride really nice. The downfall was horrible traction, no transfer, poor top end, poor mpg. The thing was a dog compared to traditional edge sleds, even with researching and playing with setups

As far as 2s sleds in that vintage skidoo handled much better. Much less inside ski lift much more plush suspensions compared to poo. I remember pulling up behind a poo on trail 6 outside Lando with my 2003mxz and the guy tried to run me so I got on his butt just sat there while he was all over his sled with the rear wagging back and forth. I sat flat in the saddle and laughed at the guy until he gave up and just pulled over exhausted. Imo no contest doo was superior then and poo was confused as to what body style rear suspension was best. Used look at doo in that era.

I have a 08 Polaris IQ turbo 4 stroke sled, 2 up. The adjustable suspension gave out 3 years ago, would cost 800.00 to fix so just ride as is. My Hubby had 04 XC, love that sled but he sold it.

I went from an edge with M-10 to an IQ chassis. Huge change and well worth the extra cash in my opinion. The way it handled the rough trails was much better, and the handling was great improvement. Spend it!

Spend another $500 or so and get yourself a 2009 newer Ski-Doo...the riding position is night and day better than an old turd Polaris. You’ll thank me later...

Don't you love it when you ask a specific question and you get told to buy something else? Geez

Yes, I could mention that it seems when I look at a lot of used Rev's, the sellers seem to taught they have rebuilt engines!!! Why so many rebuilt ski doo engines but why bother. I will stick to my original post. (I do like the banter though!)

Thanks

I like my IQ. The wife rode a 2001 with an M-10 last year. Bought her a 2010 IQ for this year. She said it fit her better. I am having the heavy duty torsion springs put on it as we are larger people and will have a kid on the back.

In 2007 and 2008 Polaris built an IQLX 600 with the M10 suspension. The M10 was great in the Edge chassis and also in the IQ chassis (I still have the IQ M10 and it rides great. The IQ is a rider-forward sled and you will feel much more comfortable in that seating postion vs the Edge. As a bonus, you get fuel injection vs the carb Edge model. The one drawback is I thought the IQ chassis always had too much ski lift in the corners. But for the $ the IQ M10 is a great sled.

I bought a brand new IQ, M10 in 2008 (white) and it was a great sled that rode like a dream, with plenty of power in the 600. Problem with the ES on an intermittent basis. Trackside told me it was loose battery wires.

I am looking at a 2009 IQ 600. I don't think this would have an M-10 suspension, correct?

Sorry, it looks like the post said the M10 was in the 07 and 08 models.

Thanks

I had a 2006 Ski-doo 500 SS 2-up. I hated the way that sled handled in the corners with the ski lift. Hopefully that wont be the same as the IQ 600?

I think 2008 was the last year the M10 was offered. Search the message boards for opinions on ski lift on IQ chassis. This is just one person's opinion and I'm not much of a sled tuner. Great sled otherwise and I will keep my IQLX for a long time as a second sled.

If you want to avoid ski lift, the Pro R chassis sleds corner great. My neighbor bought a used 600 Indy with the Pro R suspension for $3500. I think it was about a 2013.

Good time to shop given the low snow, and you can get much more in a sled for less money than in a snowy year.

Long time ago now, but as I recall, it did have ski-lift when you were running corners at high speed. Mitigate that to some degree by getting the azz off the sled. No biggie - no lazy riding allowed.
If you want a '13 Rush Pro-R I have one in mint condition. (see ad) Haven't ridden yet this year.

I have had most of the "Polaris" sleds members have posted about here! Buy a late model 600 that you are comfortable $$$ with and have the shocks rebuilt and set up for YOU and ride the Trails! A good rider can Pester a Hot Dogger on any Trail with a 600 and you Both will be Tired/Beat at the end of the day! Have Fun! Poor Devil!

Had an M-10 and although plush is was a bit squirrely in some cases and could never get it setup right with on power traction.
ZX Chassis from Ski-Doo is great all around and the 600 mill is unstoppable. Grand Touring model is very plush and good price. Stay away from triple and 800cc.
Spent the time playing with it and making adjustments. All sleds i've owned took awhile to get right and also i've swapped out all springs as i'm over 200lbs except on touring models those come with better spring rates for the heavier solo rider.
