Thats unbelievable! I don't like riding with Polaris anymore either... can't trust em at all. They might be able to build a chassis, but it actually holding together and being able to ride it is another thing...

last thursday morning riding out ofthe Hurley area with 9 guys....19 miles in one sled go's down ,motor locked up and it's a polaris...to be fair it was a 96ish xc600 with 200 miles short of 10,000miles but it shur messed with our trip as the rental sled he had later went down also and that was a cat.
my new yamaha, turn the key and have a blast!!

Great, went from a ticking time bomb, with all sorts of fore warning about problems, yet people still buy 'em, for what? 600 just as fast and more reliable.
Ticking time bomb, to a 600 lbs. (dry), titanic boat anchor for bargain price of 12 G's - pick your poison I reckon. Olsmann, better sell fast and stock up on titanic boat anchors!

I like my titanic boat anchors so much I have three. No problems X3...

Yeah sleds break down. 2 years ago had a guy with a brand new Cat in our group. In the first 4 miles down the trail Boom, diamond drive done. He was not a happy camper as he then had over 600 bucks in a rental.

4 blow ups in one calendar year?? Somebody is doing something wrong. Whether it's the owner, or the repair shop not correctly fixing the problem.

I'm not saying poo 800s are awesome, I know they are a problem, but somebody is doing something wrong unless your buddy drives 10k plus a yr.

I agree with this 100%.

Just a thought, I wonder how these units were stored if the fuel was ethanol fuel, and if it separated and had a significant amount of water in it. I always think about that when my trailer sits in the sun and gets warm (not recently since it been so cold) then cools down at night it would have to condensate in the tank. Not sure if there is a correct answer but kind of makes you think about what caued these failures. I would like to know what it takes to test fuel for water concentration.

Just got back from trip and again no trip to my Yamaha dealer. Unlike my 72 year old friend that blew up not 1 but 2 Poo 800s, yup you heard me right, on Thursday his 2013 went down so he got his wife's 2012 that was rebuilt last year less than 1,500 miles ago and it went down on Saturday. So guess what he did ? Called Kip up and had Pat deliver a Yamaha to us at Silver City that he bought over the phone. Less than 1.5 hours later we were on our way. So even though don't drive a Polaris anymore they still continue to try and screw with my trips. Still have a 2012 Pro R 600 and a 2013 600 Adventure that will be sold sooner or later but until then .......

Any sled can break down.....the four stroke haters will never get it....they are sooooo bitter about them...they look for any excuse to justify not buying one..."they are heavy"..."ill handling"....blah...blah..blah...I ride a two stroke...and I like it...but I do like the four strokes...they keep getting better and better.

Ride what you like people....it's a dumb argument.
Off trail/powder/agressive big bump/jump guy...2 strokes rule...average joe trail cruiser guy/high mileage guy... 4 strokes are the way to go.

It's like arguing politics or religion....you will never change somebody's mind..once they have it in their mind that one or the other sucks...it's set in stone.

The only thing I will say is.. if you haven't ridden a 2012 or newer four stroke....then you don't have a clue what you are talking about...I shake my head when some guy comes on here and trashes four strokes...and the last one he rode was a t-660 or an rx-1....engine braking reduction, and power steering do make a big difference..the 2011 and newer yamaha's are far superior to the 06 to 2010 apexes and vectors...they are improved in so many areas...the cat 1100 is very nice in the f-4 chassis....and the doo 1200, and now 900 ace have some very happy customers out there.

I get soooooo tired of this argument.....ride what you like.
They each have their own niche....and fill them well.

Just go to the Tech Talk section and see for yourself which brand has the most posts. Should be pretty clear which brand to stay away from.

I was going to say the same thing, but wasn't sure if it was because there were just that much more poo riders on this site.

It did catch my attention...

I think you guys are freakin nuts. I've ridden with 2 yamaha's this year and each time they were broken and held me back from riding. Bazinga? No I don't run around this forum waving my pom pom's telling everyone I couldn't ride because a Yamaha was broke... 2 different sleds on 2 seperate accounts...

Yep....it's just a matter of time.

Which is why someone should buy my 2013 Pro RMK. 4400 trouble free stock miles and 240 more on a Mtn TEK fix kit. Should go another 2500 to 3000 miles. Sled works perfect and is in the classifieds. Going to buy a 2015 Pro RMK when the 2013 sells.

Edit...Nevermind sled found a new owner tonight. Now...on to shopping for a 2015.

3000 miles on mine running 65:1 ratio before turning oil up. Nobody wins on bashing posts no matter what the product is.

Indy, love the loyalty:) I remember a Yamaha getting you home one night and I also remember you being in my shop this year and we fixed a Yamaha that was riding with you and if I remember correctly it was repaired in a speedy time and it was a dealer service issue that was performed incorrectly? Correct me if I'm wrong. Just call em like I see em. Hey guys all product is good as long as the companies allow the dealer to do his job and more importantly you have a good dealer. Good dealer means good product:) I can appreciate brand loyalty but when people start talking about Yamaha not being a dependable product they have screws loose. If Yamaha has one thing going for them dependability is it!!!!

I was just trying to point out it happens to every brand. First 20 posts slamming Poos, guys were making it sound like their Yami's are indestructable. Obviously they aren't as they held up my ride just as Pwolfy's buddy's Poo did to him. What comes around goes around.

I am a Ski Doo guy after being a polaris Die hard growing up. After I was left stranded by Polaris on 2 trips I had enough, and switched to ski doo in 2005 and have not looked back. For everyone of me, there will be the ski doo who goes to polaris! But I agree with Kip, I would never bash yamaha as when I think of durability I think of yamaha as most have 10,000 plus miles and going strong. I am happy with Ski Doo and hope I never have to change brands again as I love my 1200 4 tec and hope it goes for lots of miles like the yamahas. Like I said earlier they all have there problems and routine maintenance goes a long way to stopping most problems, or finding one before it leaves you stranded.

I do thank it is fair to slam the Polaris 800 motor as hit has been a big problem for people. Look at any forum and there will be a heading for Polaris 800 motor down. But still not fair to bash polaris on just that motor as they put out a pretty product all in all.

My dad had an IQ 600 Polaris touring sled. Beautiful and flawless. That 600 liberty is a sweet engine. The IQ chassis felt a little tippy to me, but that was a very nice, reliable sled.
