Power valve help

FWIW, I use polaris blue. Never had a problem. I had to replace bellows once, but I have 7400 miles on my sled to. I clean my valves at the beginning of every season. Thats it. This year has been a bad year, low miles(appox 2000), but usually I get good miles on. My sled is 3 years and one month old, and cleaned them 3 times. My sled also gets plenty of idle time too, I never touch the throttle till at least 85*. I use approx. a quart in a 100-125.

Any input on if they were put in the correct way?

Groomerdriver, aluminum is the weakest ones.

They only go in ONE way, they're intentionally designed that way

On the ticking noise, put it back together first and run it

On the track, if you're replacing it, get the COBRA, way better than the Ripsaw

I don't understand how it only goes in one way, mine aren't curved like a moon shape like I thought it would be. I have a ripsaw on my 700 i want to swap. If i don't sell it by spring break (last week in march) I'm putting the ripsaw on it.

The guillotine/shaft position ONLY fits in one way.

You can't mess up, install it by hand, make sure it sits flush up against the cylinder without having to use the bolts to pull it together

Unless you use a 5 pound sledge to force it in.

I believe mine had the numbers facing up, there is a slighty larger taper on the top side than the bottom, larger taper on top.

So tomorrow I should go get new springs, work on getting them even more clean, and run em? I gotta get the gaskets, they half stuck. I gotta get clutch guard pin, and maybe a clutch puller. My parents think it's their decision whether or not i'm putting my ripsaw on here. i was like ***? It's just because i take up THEIR garage apparantly for too long :)

That's funny right there.... I have to vote with your parents .... ( LOL )

I put them in what I thought was backwards and it's almost completly in, but it's out about 1/4" So numbers are supposed to be up. Dealer only had 1 spring, so had to order the other one. I got one powervalve all together. Hopefully it don't tick no more.

This made me laugh. My mom and dad went and looked at my tracks before I woke up and they said i'm right and that i have to change the tracks because the ripsaw is like twice as big as the other one...

There is only one way to put them on like kraven and others said. If I remember right the screws won't even reach the threads on the cylinder if it is put in wrong there is that much of a gap. If it doesn't butt up against the cylinder when you put it on flip it and try again.

The power valve is tapered, the leading edge of the taper should be to the top side.

Clean the 3/16" hole in the cyclinder, use a 3/16" drill bit by hand, no power tools.

Put the power valve in a vise, turn the 10mm nut off. It's your personnel preference if you want to change the springs or not, they rust again from water entering the small in in the plastic power valve cover anyway.

Clean the small holes, can't remember the drill size, that go up into the bellows area.

Use any of the outboard marine products that say like internal engine claener, they all work great.

It's not the oil, I don't care what oil you use there will be some carbon on the power valves. This is an area in any brand sled that needs cleaning.

Ok another question, I have a guy at work that races shifter karts and he says you should be cleaning your exhaust pipes as well. He takes his to some guy and the dip if for a few days in some cleaner, have you guys ever heard of this. Kind of makes sense that all the crap will stick somewhere.

Those are rather small pipes and do gum up if jetted at all rich.
