Plenty of Apex out there with 10,000+ miles on them holding together well. You go to TY & many riders in the 15,000 mile range & holding for another year or 2...yep heavy but they do last along time. I'm pushing 10,000 miles on my Attak & never rebuilt a shock, don't need to. I would be on my 3rd doo mxzX shock rebuild by now & 3rd engine as well, second track & clutch just no comparison.lol Yamaha sleds well worth the money to buy & keep for many years. The days of buy new & flip every 3 years are long gone too much lean green for that no matter what brand. Maybe buy used & move up but that depends on someone buying the new stuff & let it trickle down but new buyer loosing bucks big time doing that.

No shock rebuilds here either......Pushing 13,000 mi on my 2010 F8LXR. Had to rebuild mag side (warranty covered) due to a leaking seal at 7000 mi.The primary clutch finally went last weekend (warranty covered also),and a couple sets of idler wheels also covered by warranty. As far as i'm concerened this has been a great sled, and it's still running great. On the plus side i still have warranty till 12/2014... LOL....

How are you guys not doing shock rebuilds after all those miles? Do the air shocks hold up that long?

Not air shocks.... Yamaha Ohlins & GYTR clicker shocks very robust & proven shocks. No idea about air shock life & why I'm not sold on them but becoming industry standard. Time will tell on air shocks & hand air pump for adjustments.

I just can't see how you don't have to rebuild the shocks after 10,0000 miles, especially with being how front heavy they are. and you don't need a new track after 10,000 miles,,,come on now. you can't tell me yahama makes a track that is superior to the other oem's and doesn't need replacing, along with motor, shocks, clutch.....i mean everyone would own one if this is the case.

I think that the sleds today ride so nice that people just don't realize how much better they would ride if they would rebuild their shocks from time to time. I don't do it as often as the manufacturer recommends. And I always kick myself because they ride so much better after I finally do.

Incidently, my track looks great as well as the ORIGINAL woodys megabites !!

No air shocks here just a great riding twin-spar LXR chassis....

I would bet the farm your lxr rear is done that think is good for 1200max.
spend the 45 bucks and u will be surprised how much better the ride is.
the newer the f the better the early f8 used more or less the saber cat rear and that thing was lucky to get 300mi unless u got them revalved to a twin stage.
but your 2010 has that mod but still would greatly benefit from a rebuild.
and on the air shocks I am no fan at all fox floats Suckkk ars. I would way rather have fox alloy body with titanium springs any day.
first mod I do to my M's dump the floats.
the non floats are on my hay days list for the f8SP this yr

In my case Yamaha sales told me shocks would not need rebuilding & they were seeing 10-15,000 miles on Ohlins & GYTR shocks that had not been touched. I was like "sure not what I'm seeing with my doo shock rebuilds every 3500 miles". Now that I'm pushing 10K miles on my Attak all shocks are in great shape. You don't rebuild what is not broken. The engine is very robust & I'm sure it will be fine at 20K miles it is a motorcycle engine! I did replace clutch buttons this year at about 8,000 miles but other than that clutch has been very robust & have about 4-5000 miles on current belt which only costs $65. The ripsaw is a 2ply track & maybe wearing so well because I only ride in the best conditions & don't spin the track unnessarly.Yamaha ownership is very pleasant change oil, grease fittings, clean clutch gas & go. Of coures Yamaha sleds are not the cheapest sleds out there but last the longest no question about that. Just go to TY to read how many users are putting on trouble free 10,000 miles + on their sleds sure the complain about this & that but they stay with Yamaha because they just don't break down & done with 2s burndowns.:)
