Hey John...push that rain line east!! We could lose half of the UP & WI Northwoods trails where that line is for Thursday. It has been a great season but I want more say "No" to iceberg trails.:(

Sounds like keep up with the forecast & not going to know rain / snow line until track sets up that day. Hate those kind of storms! :(

I guess you will have to make a trip UP to the Keweenaw.-Mezz

All over the place on Rhinelander NBC some places in western WI are under blizzard warnings NOW just have to keep an eye on this one watch for phasing like John said & if snowing like crazy in Phelps out my window that would be a good thing! I just don't think we will know until it happens.:).

Well, I will say this, you can have Meester Bleezard for now, as well as his extended family. I think most of us here have had enough of getting pounded for a while. Now, "some" nice occasional fresh snows over a period of day's, no problem. I don't wish rains on anyone at this point, but, if you do lose your snow, we have plenty, so come on UP, it's worth every penny.-Mezz

Looks like NWS is pushing the rain/snow line further east....they have increased snow totals here in northern wisconsin to 8-12 inches!!! (Thursday into Thursday night)....sounds like it could be even more if it tracks just a bit further east.....will have to see what happens the next 24 hours...it will be interesting to see what John says tomorrow.

Yes moving rain line east as I hoped now they are holding out on the snow depth graphics...want more time could be a biggie for us talking 40mph winds. I'll take the snow but means trees down on trails so I'll take the good with the bad.:)

Yep!, looks like a mean & nasty event to say the least, not really looking forward to it. The central pressure associated with this as John put it, "could rival that of the storm that sank the Edmund Fitzgerald".I am not really looking forward to it, but, I'll take it over rain, freezing rain & rain mixed with snow . . . . -

although we will no doubtably loose all of our snow cover tomorrow-Friday; This warm snap might just put a little smile on some of the people around here and I'll have a little room to stack the new snow that is coming.
And when we loose our snow, I'll have to plan a trip to the Keweenaw. This has been the longest we've had an actual snow pack that I can remember, but I still need a trip UP there to feel like actually ridden.

I bought a new sled this past weekend. My Daughter and I are driving up to the cottage on Thursday afternoon. Are we crazy? how bad will the storm be by then?

I wouldn't drive through it. How far you going? If you are 200 miles away, I would drive up EARLY tomorrow. Gonna be a bumpy ride this weekend.

Near Janesville, straight up 51. 4x4 F150. She doesn't get off work until noon. On the road at 12:30! I hope the timing is wrong for the storm. Just need it to be a couple hours delayed! :p

Ok...but every indication is that the storm will only get worse as the afternoon wears on...be careful...we have had some very bad accidents up here lately with icy roads....even Highway 51 from wausau north has had its share of accidents this winter.

I drove up 51 last thursday in the storm they had, It started around Westfield and it was rough drive all the way to gogebic.

Were heading up again tommorrow morning and taking the eastern route this time 41/45 from Milwaukee hoping to beat the storm staying in Watersmeet this weekend.

You might squeak thru but going to be close you just don't want to be on 39 Flats when this baby hits probably shut 39/51 down durning the thick of it can't plow at 40mph +winds push it away & right back they will just pull everything off the roads. To be honest really better to visit WI Northwoods WUP Monday give groomers a chance to work this stuff & trees will be down on trails as well.
