drug cartels love legal pot states
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-new...home-grown-marijuana-pot-legal-states-n875666

Where are the decapitating alcohol cartels setting up shop?

They are on the roads every day and every night. From the State of WI DOT: "In 2015, there were 5,174 alcohol-related crashes in Wisconsin. During 2015, there were 2,872 alcohol-related injuries in crashes. In 2015, alcohol was a contributing circumstance in 190 traffic deaths".

Drunk driving is so commonplace that is does not make the headlines, or is even remotely interesting to most. Plus the networks would never bite the hand that feeds them (Bud, Miller, Coors...etc).

Making generalities is the act of the stupid and scared. Saying that marijuana or drinking is bad is wrong. It's all in how it is done. Some do not belong partaking in either. I was a bartender for 10 years and saw first hand the wickedly bad effects that alcohol can have on some folks. Abuse of others, themselves...etc. I am sure that marijuana will or is causing problems for some. I am not sure what the answer is, but sticking your head in the sand to one problem, while you make a scapegoat out of another is not the answer. That I am sure.

Interesting emotional reply, but apples and oranges. Ppl who drink drive and kill aren't an organized cartel mob.
My point is that we were told by the potheads to legalize it to eliminate the criminal element. That was totally false bs so far.
What other BS are the potheads spewing.

2 wrongs never made either right.

During prohibition the alcohol cartels and illegal related activity thrived. Once alcohol became legal again in all 50 states that was the end of them. That will happen to marijuana. Once it becomes legal in all or most states and Federal, then the black mkt will shrivel up b/c anyone anytime can just go to the local store and buy it. It will happen.

If pot sales are left to the private sector with gov. oversight the same as alchohol sales what you are saying might be true. But that won't happen.

Good read with valid points.^^^. Tough call on what will happen. Based on Dec sales in MI and 2020 with very limited stores and product, the projection for 2021 sales is well above $1 billion. Its about convenience. I would much rather go to a store because I'm not concerned about spending $5 or $10 more (tax)

I am concerned about the store not only checking my ID for age, but they will also be swiping my enhanced DL even though the state doesn't require it. And beyond marketing with an email no one knows where my personal info goes or who may see it. Its the unknown.

Don't know yet. Never visited a pot store. I'm still in the rules and regulations research mode. I never thought verifying I'm over 21 would include more then a glance at a pic ID. And this takes place in the indoor wait room before even being allowed to enter door #2.

Jezus....makes you wonder what a gov. run brothel would treat you like......you'd forget what you came for.

Actually it will happen. Tax revenue from weed will become an integral part of government budgets. The legal industry will, after a few years, represent this to the legislators as a share of market issue, that is, both parties (legal industry and government taxing bodies) will come together to increase legal share of market by adjusting tax rates down and making it up in volume/share, thus resulting in more net tax dollars.
Remember, it is infinitely more convenient for the rec user to buy controlled legal product in a controlled retail environment than from your nephew's roomate's cousin.
This is a new market that has to establish new cultural norms. Right now government can't be seen as a partner, but a beneficiary. They will begin to ask how to increase revenue, they will lower tax rates eventually...EVENTUALLY...and greatly reduce black market share. Just not right away.

I have a legal dispensary 1 mile down my street and the traffic is unbelievable, there are cops directing traffic down there with a line around the building, the outpouring of people wanting to buy pot is incredible, Makes me want to open up a Girl Scout cookie stand across the street

This goes way back, involves all kinds of subjects, and issues. It goes such as this, "If ya want to play, you have to pay"! That's just the way it works in many ways, on many things! I guess you give your identity up for it being legal?

Even though it's legal in some states, it's not legal by federal law. I belong to a few gun forums and have heard where individuals have not been able to purchase firearms because of having their ID scanned going to pot shops. You have to fill out a form 4473 to purchase and supply all the info in it. Question 11e ask if your an unlawful user of pot.

Okay, but if you buy in a pot store. It's not unlawful use.

Does the person who came up with "question 11e" have more than a 3rd grade education....really?? I can just see it..."Im sorry Mr. Jonesin you answered yes to question 11e, thus we cannot legally sell you pot so either get back in line and fill the form out correctly, or just continue to get it from where ever you were getting it before"

Tell that to the Feds or ATF

Has nothing to do with buying pot, this has to do with purchasing a firearm. Someone posted about scanning an ID and not knowing where it could go after it's been scanned. I'm just saying be careful with your ID, no difference than people stealing CC info.
