Sea and Snow

2-3 years ago i switched to Citgo sea and snow, its been good oil. The problem is Fleet Farm doesn't have it any more, what they have is Mystik which it looks like Citgo makes. My question is is this the same oil?

Thanks,

Okay, that part has been settled. Now, my question is what sleds are you guys running Mystic in? I have two F Series Cats that I've run Amsoil Interceptor in exclusively. One is a F8 Sno Pro-2008. Other is a 2007 F6. Can I run Mystik in them without worries? Hate to think I may be hurting the sleds, but also trying to save money due to the $3.00 per gallon gas prices.

When was researching the Sea and Snow last yr I called Citgo. They told me the Mystik line was new and it was fully synthetic. However, looks like you are correct. Sea and Snow is now under the Mysitk name. But they doo make a fully sny, which is called JT-4.

I just bought 2 cases and it was still under the Citgo name. Hmmmm.....

I run it in a 2009 XP 800r and an 06 REV 500ss. My buddy runs it in his 2007 F8 and 2009 F6, as well as his 2006 Firecat F6. No problems. I would think you would have more issues with the Interceptor, as my mechanic has rebuilt alot of motors that have run this Amsoil and in most cases internal components have been DRY. When I started riding sleds that is what I used and my Rave Valves were always dry. Now with the Sea and Snow thier is a nice oily SLIPPERY coating, which is what I want.

Okay. I may give it a try. I've run Interceptor oil for years, and never had any issues with any of my engines. There's also some blind studies out there and Amsoil shows less break down in the oil by far than most oils studied. My mechanic friend doesn't run it, but he says he's never seen an engine burn up from using it. He's got over 20 years into wrenching too. Thanks for the info.

1st off, most Amsoil studies I've read are done by themselves, and I haven't seen alot of studies on their 2 stroke oil, but mainly engine oil. 2 stroke oil doesnt break down, it burns. Engine oil breaks down. 2nd, oil normally is not the reason an engine burns down. That's a fuel issue (lean) more often than not.

I think the only argument AGAINST amsoil that made since to me was that synthetic oil doesn't stay "attached" to the internals during the storage period as well as regular or semi-synthetic. I think this is a real argument particularly if you don't fog the engine for the off-season.

I think sea & snow is semi-synthetic.

I use amsoil but have been tempted to try something else also..
