We have State Farm who we also have home, auto, snowmobile trailer, boat, motorcycle, lake cabin, and umbrella insurance with.
We have (2) 2011, 1049 cc Yamaha's and pay $208.74 per sled Full coverage with 250K,500K bodily inj, 100K property damage, Under-insured 100K/300K $500 deductible.
I know that is a lot of info, but should give you an idea how much State Farm would cost. The rate we pay is higher because the 1049 CC. The lower the CC the lower the cost.
Hope this helps

My buddy is my insurance guy. I'll see who he has me under. I know it's not too expensive though. I also know that they cover burn downs.

If you already have a house and vehicle policy under a particular agent, start with them. He/She should be able to get you some competitive rates being you've already got your business with them.

State Farm!!!

Ive had 3 total loss claims on snowmobiles in the last 5 years and have had no issues getting my money quick so I could replace the sled and not miss much of the snowy season... Rates are pretty reasonable also.

Similar as above. Call your agent who you have home and autos with and they should be able to get you around $150-200ish. I just insured an 06 800 for $160 with All State Ins. This is through an independant broker with access to many insurance companies. They have the boat and atv through Progressive so might want to check that avenue also. Good luck.

I use Mezz on JD's site as my insurance "dude". Now with that said I have all my stuff through him. House, car, truck, sled, and whatever the heck else I own.

I do agree that you should bundle them all together as you get discounts for paying them more, if that makes sense.

Anyway, I would recommend Mezz to anyone, not only is the service top notch, but how many times has your agent called you and told you to change companies because it can save some money?? He takes care of me and my family, actually my grandparents were insured with his dad, and so the story goes.

If it isn't possible to consider Mezz, I would make sure you have all of your eggs in one basket, at least for insurance purposes.

I pay a frequent flyer rate for my sled, and no that's not a discount. I have to get aircraft insurance as I tend to launch off of all available stumps, bumps, mounds, etc. I often wonder if it's to my advantage or not to ride with your ins. agent? I always let him go First, then he can't see what happened.

I have my sleds insured with Liberty Mutual.....about 1/2 of what I was paying to Nationwide. Looked at Progressive but they weren't close to Liberty's price on the sleds.

I have state farm, when I bought a new car, for 9.00 more per month. I got full coverage, but she did not try to sell it to me, I had to ask. Good rates, poor service? I now have the coverage I wanted. Cheapest ins I can get. I wraped all my crap in the same policy

I went down this road when I was younger. After 3 claims in 2-3 years, SF dropped my sled insurance. I'm surprised they didn't drop your sled coverage ?

I carry comp during the off season and switch it to collision for the season. We have all our stuff insured by the same company ( USAA ) . Like said above that's the route to go , you will get a multi vehicle discount.

In Calumet Mi, we knew Glen Johnson, Farmers ins. I worked with his brother at KMS who also sold ins. Kept them for over a year in FL. untill we switched to Fl. rates. Have state farm here, much cheaper. I miss the service from Glen. If I had known Mezz first, he would have had my biz, its not always the $, service, advice ect. costs a little bit extra. That cost is always returned when you have a problem. Give Mezz a call. Oh we had state farm the first year in MI, only to have Glen cut our rates in half. 906-337-3200 I have never met my agent here, my wife met her 1x, not like running into the Johnson's at the Whitehouse on 2-4 -1 steak night. Shop, read, ask questions. I did learn a lesson back in early 80's. I was over insured with a million dollor umbrella policy, I was the 4th car in a 5 car pile up, not my fault, wrong place wrong time deal. My name was listed first in the lawsuits because I had the best policy, go figure? In MN. Allstate was the best rate, we had all our stuff with them. Ready for this? Home, cabin, 2 jet skiis, 3 cars, 4 sleds, 3 boats, and life ins. But the policy also covered my John Deere riding mower. After typing that, I realize living more simple has the advantage. Down to a boat, 2 cars. Boat is getting dropped this month. Keeping the boat, but in 31 years of paying ins on boats, never had a claim.

Foremost has quoted me $600 for a 2011 Crossfire 800. This sounds way high to me compared to what others are paying. I need to do some shopping today!

I found that several Ins. Companies specialize in certain items to insure. I have the bulk of my stuff with Auto/Homeowners Ins. Including the sled and sled trailer. I found Insurance Co.'s vary by territories also. In my area Progressive has the best deals on motorcycles, Boats go with Charter (light house ins.). Insurance even though a pain to do needs to be shopped about every other year. Insurance Companies make their money off the ones who just send in the premiums each yr. without a "peep" or ever a claim. I found Insuring or doing any kind of Business with friends is NOT always the best way to go. (that's another story). I also found that going by low price only you set yourself up for surprises. Insurance is like anything else you get what you pay for. Yet everyone wants a "Deal". Stand alone policies cost the most in most cases. Rates have a lot to do with your credit score too. Lots of variables.

Good points Polarisrider, many folks don't realize the different factors that are taken in today's insurance underwriting. Age, driving record & insurance score are a few key factors, not to mention loss history. Sled insurance, like auto or home, cannot be accurately compared with your neighbors, shop around if you don't feel you are getting a reasonable quote. As mentioned above, know what you are getting, price is but a part of the equation & compare "Apples to Apples". You put your trust in your agent whom should be looking out for your best interest, if he/she aren't, find one who will & don't be afraid to ask questions.-Mezz

BTW, thanks m8man for your kind words & the funny ones! Frequent Flyer indeed! FYI, I choose to go first because I don't want to see what your pulling, it's better that way,,,most of the time!

Yikes  Sounds like the insurance I used to pay when I was 30 and had one of the first triples out on the market.

Changed my policy around and added the snowmobiles to the cabin policy. Only paying $350 to cover 2011 Crossfire 800 and 2005 ZR900. The original quote was $1,000 to cover both.
