Ariens it is.

Good choice ! It's worth the dollars & worth the drive if you have to travel to get 1. In my original post I mentioned chewing up some of the shovels, it not only ate those but I have repeatedly chewed back rock hard ice banks making room for my trailer & turning my 3 apron wide driveway into 4.5 wide. It eats landscape gravel, shovels, ect.... all at the cost of a shear pin or 2. Sometimes as the belt wears I will tighten up the adjuster and go out and " show" off just how far my Ariens can chuck the fluffy stuff, as compared to my neighbors whom have cheaped out on a single stage thinking that would get them thru !!! I actually had a couple of those going back into the early 90's and they didn't hold up for my abusiveness, things start to break & fatigue ect.... Or so was my experience. My Grandfather had an Ariens for 27 years, lived in Utica NY back in the 60's & 70's and it took the weather. We would pull up in his driveway and the snow was piled 5' to 6' high back in those days.

I'm done story telling for now.

I had the largest arians made when I was in the UP. the best option on it was the enclosed cab cover. Not sure where you live or how much snow you get, but the cab was priceless. My wife could run it no problem. We blew snow 2x a day, so the speed of the blower meant I could ride sooner. If I had to do it all over again, a plow was cheaper but I would have to bring in a loader to make more room half way thru the season 60.00 bucks. The blower never let me down, and moved more snow faster than any other blower I have ever owned..

Ariens. I had a little one for 17 years. Bought it used. I had no idea how old it was when I bought it. Sold it for the same amount I paid.
I now have a 9hp. To much beast for my wife or daughter to use. My neighbor has a 2 stage 5hp Toro they get to use. We keep both driveways and sidewalk cleared while the neighbors are in Arizona for the winter.
1 perk is I keep the truck and sleds in their garage while they are gone.

snowblower

If anyone is looking I have a John Deere 1032 For sale (10 Hp 32" cut) Runs good and is in nice condition. Doesn't have electric start, but has always started in 1-3 pulls - electric start could be added. Has the snow cab and chains. I think Ariens made these for John Deere. It has the cast iron gear box and really is a heavy duty blower. I'm in Hayward, Wi and am asking $350. Cal (715) 634-1342 if you like pictures or have any questions

I got the model that ends with 013. It has a subaru engine. Looks well built. Just need snow.

Not trying to start WW3, BUT..... I know Ariens makes a good product and it is assembled in the USA. I own one myself. Its older and runs like the day I bought it, but over and over in this thread several people have said to buy American made by American workers and unionized American workers being the preferred type of worker to assemble this machine.

So, we find ourselves back at the age old question. Is it American enough to just be assembled in the USA or should it be MADE in the USA???

Polarisrider's new unit, as does mine, has a SUBARU power plant. American??? No it is not. Some of the parts on my Ariens and polarisrider's Ariens are made in Mexico or China??? Yes they are.

Ariens makes a great product, with good ol' American unionized labor!! But is it MADE IN THE USA????

Whats your opinion??

Is it any different than the Honda Civic made in Ohio by good old American workers?? or the foreign SUV that John Dee bought a while back that was built in America??

I guess Ariens is a little different, because some of the profit stays here in the USA because its an American based company.
But then again some of Toyota's and Honda's profits stay here in the USA to..

Don't hate me, I'm just starting conversation. I own Arctic Cats, Harley's, Chevy's, Pontiac's Ariens. I'm all about American. Just wondering what y'all think???

Will Michigan get beat by MSU....using the little giant play????

I wish I had a crystal ball....life would be much easier.

Here we go again.....

Where was it made?
Who made it?
Were all, some or none of the parts made here?

Do you care if your neighbor goes snowmobiling?

Do you wish your neighbor would move?

I got it....what if it doesn't snow...would it then make a difference?

Would POLARIS store it, or sell it and buy a turbo???

It is kinda boring orange and no headlight. bought it with money from the switchback sale. Poor Indy500 he would of loved that sled. :(

i think i coulda afforded it too, i got $1000 saved up so far for my next sled, and if i sold mine, i could maybe get $1800 for it.

I never said anything about buying a union made snow thrower. If it was that's great. I just want value for my dollar. Not crap low price but value. Oh and it will have the finest of oil and gas run in it. It is nice to know this unit is considered American made such as my Searay, chevrolet, Polaris, Harley, wheel horse, cushman golf cart, Buick, and Dodge truck. Now are we talking south, central or north america? I just want a good snowthrower that chucks all my snow over to my neighbors driveway, why because that's what men do.

My only reply to this would be where is there corporate offices? Thats where all the profits go and thats straight to Japan Remember Pearl Harbor? The Japanese was experts in brainwashing our guys and they have brainwashed us in believing that there products are better then ours and I say horse feathers on this Also there token jobs that they have over here is to get away from the stiff tariff fees that our government would have put on them Just another good brainwashing techique I want our country back to MADE IN U.S.A. means something and not just some token jobs to get in this country to destory it Just my 2 cents worth :)

I did some research. The subaru engine was added because Ariens ran out of B&S engines. They bought the subaru engines to keep production running (saving jobs). They made the part # end in an odd number 013. Ariens claims the subaru motor is designed specifically for snowthrowers and it cost them much more than the Briggs motor. It has been viewed as an upgrade by consumers. I got this info from snowblowersdirect.com I bought their last one. The home depot has the last of them. For the same price.
