If it meets or exceeds requierments [sic] then it is good. Beleive [sic] me I make the stuff. You don need to buy brand name.

What you say is true, Tom, but the discussion here is not driven by science or engineering, it's religion! Just a few different "cults" in play.

(As in "Our minds is made up, we don't need no stinkin' facts!") :)

Thank you Frank. It is like cigarettes "Up in Smoke". Doesn't Matter brand, it all burns. Nobody will change my loyal Polaris, Amsoil, Klim, Chevy truck, Harley Davidson, Sea Ray, Smith and Weson, Wheel Horse (before Toro buy out), Mackinaw fudge, Ariens American made mind!

I use 100% synthetic Polaris oil and buy 4 gallons in a box, save $20.00, also a gallon should last you for 800 miles, I don't like to clean power valves, maybe 3,000 miles using good oil.

I have 2 800 Polaris sleds will put over 1,000 miles on each, if we get more snow, I buy oil every 2 years.

If oil is going to break me, I need to get out of the sport, just to save $10 to $20 a year for low grade oil.

Just did a little research for fun, looking for "low-grade" oils. Keep in mind, this is not scientific and came from the companies' own web pages (curiously, I could not find any such info on Doo's XPS brand):

Amsoil Interceptor -- JASO FC and API TC rated
Blue Marble -- JASO FD and ISO EGD, and TC-W3 rated
Klotz -- JASO FD, ISO EGD, and API TC rated
Legend ZX2SR -- JASO FC, ISO EGD, API TC, and TC-W3 rated
Sea and Snow -- JASO FD, ISO EGD, and API TC rated
Spectro -- JASO FD, ISO EGD, and API TC rated

It would appear that all are very similar in the standards they meet. But, all are not similar in price! :D

I think S&S is TC-W3 rated also.

Hmmm....on the product info sheet online it said NOT to use it in an engine requiring a TC-W3 product.

TC-W3 is a rating used by many marine 2 stroke oils. I use Quicksilver, neighbor uses Pensoil in our jet skis both are TC-W3 rated. What is the Sea part of Sea and Snow? can sea and snow be used in Say a 2006 kawasaki 1100 triple jet ski or 1990 something stand up jet skis like my neighbor has. We were told to have a TC-W3 rated oil for our marine 2 strokes. I am confused on this one. heading back to google, back in awhile.
