Snowmobile transport to out west.

I have to say I am a little disappointed, but not surprised in the approach taken by you to play the innocent victim Jacob. The reason for these feelings I have come from the fact that back this autumn, you informed me that you would not be renewing your advertising on the site because you "Did not depend on advertising to promote your business, only word of mouth". I said that was fine and just reminded you that I do not allow businesses who do not advertise on the site to promote their business on the board. To which your response was: "What's the cheapest form of advertising you have". We set it up, you paid the $25 for the year in the directory and then a day or two later proceeded to put a post on the board with all of your scheduled trips: http://www.johndee.com/vbulletin/sh...ansportation-Lodging-amp-Meals&highlight=moms

Now maybe to you that is word of mouth, but to me, it sure looked like advertising. Since then there have been multiple other posts that were nothing but pure advertising.

To your credit, you were not breaking any of my rules. I have honored our agreement and will continue to do so for the remainder of it's term, but I guess to me this is a classic example of: BS me once, shame on you, BE me twice, shame on me.

That's pretty much all I have to say about this topic.

I wasn't going to post anymore in this topic but just can't leave your post alone, Wayne.

No one is saying that Mom's isn't a good idea, good price, good experience, or anything bad. Of course people aren't on this site aren't limited to just advertisers on the site either. Word of mouth goes a LONG way but it becomes overkill when the same people promote it over and over again.

Since you mentioned Krupp's I feel the need to tell you why people always talk about them. I recently went to the Ride In and do you have ANY idea how many things they donated for the raffle OR silent auction? I can't count how many times I saw people exchanging sweat shirts with Richard because he was sitting right next to me. I won an ATV package thing that included glove, a mini-cooler, jumper cables AND a free trail pass pass for 2012 from Krupp's. Krupp's hosts the trail clean up, provides free lodging, free lunch, free dinner and even some tools needed to do the work. Richard also drives the groomer for that area and they are now the only gas station and convenience store in the area and right on the main corridor.

I know that Skylar, ScottKing, Doospunk and many others always stay at Krupp's and are probably some of their most loyal supporters on this site. I can't remember ever hearing them chime in and say Krupp's when people ask about places to stay in the Twin Lakes area.

I have lots more to say about this but really don't want to get into a pissing match here. If anyone wants to PM me feel free.

Keith, I was just using Krupps as an example. They are great people who do things right. I have stayed there also and make a point to buy gas and things off the wall of cool stuff. But look at BP down the street. Anyways if a business or product is doing an exceptional job for snowmobilers as a whole they should be rewarded. I have given out the JDee web site to hundreds of unknowing sledders so they can gain info and benefit from it. I really feel for the newbie who started this topic. I suspect he got scared off and that's not what John Dee is about.

BS-ing you? You have quoted me why out of context and that is not even what was in print.

When I started posting in 2009 you said I had to pay to be in the directory in order to post any topics. I payed. Then we hauled your group out. You then gave me a free banner add which was greatly appreciated. The following season I was invoiced for the banner add 300 hundred bucks AND the directory listing fee.Below is the email I sent regarding paying for your banner add.

John,
While I would like to thank you for putting our banner ad up and returning my 30 dollars last season in exchange for hauling your guys out in 2010, I will have to pass on paying for the banner this year. Much like yourself, we have spent little to nothing to advertise or marketing our business and have been successful. I did send payment via paypal for this season North Woods Directory. Thank you for listing us and allowing me to post about our business.

Enjoy the winter......Thanks Again.

So is this about over kill on the PR by happy customers or is it about not buying a banner add.

I know a few guys have sent emails about the support and recognition that came early in the season from random forum members, friends and previous customers. Should members just quit posting their opinions and/or questions regarding ANY products or service they use/want to use even if the answer directly relates to the subject matter? I personally have received a ton of messages and emails from people going west and NOT using my service requesting all types of information. Most of the time the 'questionable' posts have lots of other valuable information regarding going west and the varying business/services offered at locations.

In this instance I feel that my business has become subject to censorship due to the harassment by regular forum users to other random forum members. I sure get sick of hearing about togwottee lodge and carter from techsledder, olaf, and firecatguy too but I am not sending emails to complain. Instead I do not open the thread and I do not comment on them.

When I see unfounded claims about my business making 'plugs' and members posting by-weekly, it irritates me since I have been following your rules.

In the end, it is your site and I respect that.

Peace out. Ill join skeedoo and keep to myself. See everyone on Dootalk.

For the record; I never went to Togwottee Lodge and never rode with Carter.

Also, Skeedoo left on his own because of issues he had with a member on this forum. I wondered why he disappeared myself and don't think differences with one person would ever cause me to leave a forum I like to frequent. He should come back IMO.

For shipping anything go to Usnip.com. Put up want you want shipped and you will get bids from people that do this for a living. I am having a sled delivered from Mass. to IL as I write this.

I will say I don't have a dog in this fight and haven't used Moms transportation. I will say the amount of times Moms is mentioned on this board completely pales in compariosn to the amount of threads I've read in the past ten years tellling how good Krupps strudels are. Yah I get it they're real tastey. They would have to taste like a prime rib dinner to be as good as all the accolades I've read about them. I guess when your a paid advertiser you can get away with it though. Money talks.

Wow! What a pissing match going on here! Seems pretty old, so I won't say much other than I appericate everything Mr. John Dee has done on this site and have a feeling there are a few others that feel the same way.

yup. I always wondered if the strudle thing was to get the name up and out there. Had them, they are okay, I have thought I bought them all one time so Skylar had to ask me for some but I was wrong, they made more. Not sure if homemade, frozen or nuked.

LMAO, the whole strudel thing is just a little joke between me and the guys I ride with. We are not trying to put the word out about anything. LOL. I guess if people get their undies in a bunch about it, they need to sit back, have a beer, and relax.

I think everyone needs a hug.

I chalk it up to pre-snow jitters. Happens every year. People get testy. We'll all be OK once the white stuff hits.
