next 'big' race that I know of is the Hayward Weenie Roast. It's March 4th-6th. Drag races, polar plunge, radar runs- and of course, the weenie roast.

ubee...you cut me out of the pic, I was directly on the other side of her with shovel in hand (right in front of Paul, the "current" owner of Bent's until April, you can see my Ski-Doo pants and shoes).

It was an interesting day to say the least, just 15-20 minutes before we had someone taken off in an ambulance, BTW he was fine when he was checked out at the hospital, then the throttle sticking crash.

The turnout was more than we had expected given the conditions but very few drove their sled in, I always ride mine but opted not to which was a bummer as I prefer to sled everywhere when I'm up there. Paul purchased a better timing system which eliminated having to use a radar gun, it is basically a system similar to a real drag track where there is two beams at the end to get a trap speed and it showed up on a screen placed by the starting line, it worked flawlessly and everyone could clearly see the speed.

racerx- my dad (the throttle sticking guy) said the timing system was awesome. The computer/gadget he has on his sled (that survived the crash, so he was able to see the speed that thing flew across the lake at) works in a similar fashion. It counts the rotation of the drive wheels per second, each rotation translates to the track moving xx inches, do the math to calculate inches/second to miles/hour.

Also- still looking for more pictures if anyone has them. In particular- maybe a 'before' picture? He said there were some people taking pictures of it prior to the crash. Those would be pretty good to have now. PM me if you have some and I'll send ya my email address.

That 2nd snowmobile is my dad's. As Ubee said, stuck throttle. Took off with no rider. Luckily the damage was limited to just the one machine and a few trees. I've already PMd Ubee to ask for pics, or at least the full jpeg/gif of the one posted. But if anyone else was there and has other photos, please PM me and I'll send you my email. He didn't take any pictures, but would like to have some. Thanks!
