Spring Order vs Buying Mid Winter

Alright with the price of sleds going up every year I want to know what others think. I my last sled was a spring order but dont think I will ever do it again as this time of year when you see prices 2-3K less hard to justify that for a certian color scheme or maybe up graded shock package. You used to have to spring order to get 0% financing if you go that route but you can still get that mid winter on a left over now. Almost seems like more people will start to buy left overs mid winter then snow check, seems to make the most financial sense? What are your thoughts on it??

Did spring order for years to get the cool graphics/warranty/etc,etc,etc...... I was just looking at 2016/17 left over sleds that's are still new for thousands less, and in some cases, there were 2016/17 spring order sleds still new for sale...I ride on average 3000 miles a year, and at $1 a mile depreciation, that new $14,000 sled is worth $11,000 at the end of season..... the opposite is to buy the year old "new sled" for $11,000 and save the depreciation and maintenance cost going into year two.... Hard to look past the savings going "left over new", but also really cool new.....GGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Just my $0.00002 opinion. I purchase leftover sleds or ones with a warranty with low miles, even pick up some of the spring orders a year later for less. But, i have a sledding budget and this is the only way I can get a upgraded sled as I don't take out loans for toys. (unless its 0%, and yes I know I could make more money in interest from investing and make the payments over the long haul, I just don't like having any debt over me). I also never feel i have to get a new sled and just wait for the right deal, if a deal doesn't show up I just keep riding the sled I have.

Soft selling market, buy midwinter, leftovers. Strong selling market, buy spring, early. Right now, leftovers are priced right!!!!!!!!!!

If you shop right you can't beat snowcheck. I paid $10604 plus tax for my 2015 and $10597 plus tax (that includes $1000 off golden ticket) on my 2016 both pro rmk 800 155 snowchecks.

With Midwest winters as is, buy a new 18 850 Rene today for $9,800 like I did with 0% for 36 months.
I looked at what I sold my 17 850 Rene for this time last year, it was $10,335.
Best sled, beats deal; NOBODY can argue that!

Hilarious, Cat is still trying to get 10k for 2018 600's; I pity the Cat Dealers holding this stuff. Cat Dealers, give 'em **** at the Dealer meeting this fall, they don't have your backs (or your fronts where your wallets are at)!

I never understood the reasoning...if the money leaves your wallet and goes into theirs and then you wait 8 or 9 months for delivery....?
I suppose if you're going to finance the thing and there's no money down you get some BNG's and upgrades that are different from the seasonal sales it works for some. Obviously they wouldn't offer Spring Buys if they didn't have interest. Smart Money says, sit on the cash until it's time to buy. Pay cash if you can but with the current prices that's getting harder and harder for most folks today. "Snowmobiling is inexpensive", said no one ever.

I bought. 17' Arctic Cat M8000 Limited $9,999 plus the tax and registration. I usually wait till mid or end of the season to find good deals on leftover sleds. I can always find a new year old sled for under 10g it seems. That's how I have bought the last few sleds. What are you looking for?

Well not sure about Polaris but with Doo I have never seen more than a $500 difference between dealers in spring order and I shopped hard on my last. Have buddy who sno ckecked assult 800 last spring and the same sled he checked is $2,700 less at dealer right now.

I guess it really depends more on what you want in a sled. If you have to have the latest and greatest, or exactly a specific sled than snow check is the way to go. Just work with a dealer you like on the best deal and wait......I have never snow checked and always buy the left over stock at a reduced price with my current sled having $0 interest also but it is just a plain Jane Renegade 1200 Adrenalin. It suits me fine and should be a high miler for me since I am tired of buying and selling these things so often. Its expensive!

I just did the same last month picked up 2017 plain Jane Renegade 1200 for 2,500 under the original sticker price and 3 year 0% financing.

All depends on what you want it seems that Cat and Polaris are willing to sell spring order sleds all year Doo you can only get spring orders at that time unless a dealer is willing to buy them for their own stock but then they have to pay for them when they come in I think. So if you want a Doo that is a spring only model you have to buy in spring which also helps their resale later. If you want a model that is year round I think I would be waiting until deals come out mid season.

I have never snowchecked. Thought maybe this spring would be the year. But now there are tons of 2017/2018 poos for sale at deep discounts. So I may go that route here very soon. Need to sell or trade in my ‘13 model though.

I paid $9500 plus tax/misc for my snochecked ‘18 ZR6000. In addition I got $700 in free accessories (which I needed every penny of) plus a 2 yr warranty. I dont think you can match the value of this deal today.

The $700 plus warranty extension must be worth $1000 and I don’t see any new ZR6000 for $8500.

FYI....an LE...limited edition...spring order....look up any replacement part for a sled like that VS a non LE sled and you will notice something....this is an example and I have not indicated the parts recently and I know only CATS....but its this.....a LE sled might have a 1 inch shaft....while a regular sled has a 7/8 inch shaft....and so on....electrical parts vary also...part numbers are slightly different like the relays for 4 strokes that don't work in the cold...same part....slightly different part number...one works...the other don't...a spring order LE sled is FAR SUPERIOR IN EVERY ASPECT IMO

IMO also a LE has a slighty different faster tune on the box too and they perform better and can attain more MPH

Spring orders look cooler, and you get to choose some additional options. Buying mid season with rebates will almost always get you a better price.

I think each manufacturer has a little different approach to pricing on snow checks vs. closeouts. If you are basing on price alone, leftover or season closeouts will always have the better pricing. I think Doo is the best about clearing out excess inventory mid/late-season by offering good discounts coupled with lower cost financing options. However, the Polaris hands down has the best spring ordering program thru their customization. Buying the 2019 Summit X, you can pick one color, bright red. This maybe OK with some, but if I was ordering my sled, I'd appreciate a few color options. Polaris on the other hand, will have many base colors to choose from and special customization/combination of colors for rails, tunnels, spindles, better shocks, handlebars, windshield, GPS gauge, etc. Each manufacturer also seems to always offer an extended warranty at little to no additional cost with spring ordered and there is some value there for both the original purchaser and a future buyer; spring ordered models typically seem to carry a higher resale, but also suffer the greatest depreciation of all as well.

I have never snow checked but have never really shopped for one. The idea of buying new or even putting money down in the spring is a tough pill for me to swallow. To me, if you want the benefits of a latest and greatest sled, but can forgo the bells and whistles, then buying a leftover is best.

Absolutely not the case..no way no how..100% fake news
Sorry Tracker, but I have to agree totally. No great quality benefit to spring order, other than maybe shocks on the X-package. Maybe - debatable

Other than the occasional new up and coming shock package, aren't spring order sleds just more 'pretty' with different color packages available?
