Cabin rented…check
Boat ready…check
MN fishing license…doh, now what

I didn't even put a whole lot of thought into the shutdown until I tried to go online and get my new license. Don't understand why they would shut down an automated website. Good luck to all of the MN people during this BS. If you need any help we would be glad to send you some of our fine government officials from IL. lol

you can still get them at a deputy registrar

Where does one find a deputy registrar? Is that at a court house? I use to get them at the city of Golden Valley MN offices but those are closed now, not due to the state thing, not sure why they closed. Any way, I don't have a court house in the small town where I live. . .

Go to this website http://mndep.com/locations and it will tell you what one is closet to you. I did type in my zip and searched and it didn't come up with any so it doesn't look to be 100% accurate.

You can also try this website and search for your town. Call them before you go to see which ones are open. http://www.dmv.com/mn/minnesota/dmv-office

I was just in on Wednesday to the one in Forest Lake, MN where I live. It is called the Washington County Service Center

Cool, thanks bud! Hey, anybody in Minnesota know if you still get 2 weeks into the following month "fudge factor" on your license tabs? I.E. my tabs are due in July but I get 2 weeks into August to actually get them? Used to be that way and I thought I heard somewhere that they did away with that.

just a guess but if you did get some a hole cop to give you a tix you would deff beat it in cort if you got tabs with in the 1st week of state opening .prob not have to go to cort just show tab paper work to clerk or hearing officer.that said I am bad at things like tabs and last yr one of my guys pointed out my tabs were over a yr over due checked all the cars when I got home wifes car ok wifes winter mountianeer out of date 2mo.that is why I love colector plates no tabs ever.dont know why you cant buy 3 or 5 yr tabs when you buy your new car or truck you can on sleds /boats and atv why not cars?

ezra-probably can't buy tabs at the 3 or 5 yr interval because the state wouldn't know how to manage the funds and would spend it all in year one instead of dividing it up over 5.

tyeeman-I have know idea if you can go 2 wks past, never pressed my luck. But I think if you don't have a place to get them at, you can't get ticketed for it.

Glad to read the Gov'ner kept his personal chef during the crisis! A man's gotta eat to keep up his strength to fight the good fight for the folks of MN, right??? sheesh

In Wisconsin I was told by a Friend, who is also a cop, that your tabs are actually due the first day of the month they expire. Example, if your tabs say July, they are technically suppose to be renewed by July first. He told me that it's just not strickly enforced.

Yep, and he kept his housekeeper to clean up after his Howdy Doody arse as "'essential staff". I'm paying (through my outrageous state taxes) for his freaking chef and housekeeper when I can barely afford to buy food and cleaning supplies for my own place!

Howdy needs to get his head up outta his arse and get his JOB done. CUT spending... you can't keep spending if you don't have the money and quit demanding more money... it doesn't work that way. Do you honestly think increasing taxes on the highest 2% of earnings of the people in the state is gonna save this joint... NOPE... not gonna happen. CUT SPENDING!

So annoying.

One would think that they would try to solve this quickly, because the longer MN goes without their government, the more the average working stiff Minnesotan will realize how unnecessary much of it really is.

this working stiff figured out decades ago what a wast of time and money 90% of all gov is.the majority of MN have no clue and fall for the markiting campane time after time after time. no clue what so ever no other way to explane it.

Looks like I'll hit the place on hwy 7.

Yamahauler, I think you can get ticketed for tabs even if you don't have a place to buy them. I local talk show host on the FM side mailed in a check, the gov closed as his check was in transit, still has not received his tabs, he just got a ticket the other day for out of date tabs. Really, REALLY!!! WHat a bunch of BS!!

I'm still floored at how nice the morning and evening commute has been since the shut down. I mean there's that many people working for the gov? Sheesh!
I'm sure this probably applies to other states but I heard the other day that in the state of Minnesota, the gov is the largest employer, the federal gov is the second.
Ahhh, tax dollars hard at work.

Now its hitting "big business" too.

Miller/Coors forced to remove 39 labels from store shelves, restaurants, and bars.

Why? Because they "sent in a check" for TOO MUCH, and the looming shut down delayed the processing of a new "sent in check".

This just cracks me up.
