was leaving the town of waupun yesterday morning. Wearing my seatbelt, doing the speed limit, drivinglike any good natured person would, talking to buddy on the cell. I seen a state potrol comming at me down the road. He no more got past me and procceded to whip around to pull me over. When he approached me ai asked him what the prob was he asked for my license and told me that I didnt have my belt on.Obviously I did and had it on at the time he went past. He told me I must have pt it on after he past me and I of course told him he was incorrect. He stated that he seen the "shiney" buckle hanging buy my shoulder. I pointed to the "shiney" loop holding the belt and maybe he saw that. after looking pausing for a second he said no that he could see that he didnt see the red seatbelt on my shoulder. I then pointed to my large collar on my poo snow coat and said that it is covering the belt and asked maybe he seen the white and sivler patch on the left shoulder and had mistaken that for the buckle.

he went back to his car brought me a citation for 10 bucks. I tried to talk to him again but he just walked away. I said hey Im talking to you ....kept walking.... I said thats pretty rude and Not very professonal....he kept walking. What the hel!. I know its only 10 bucks, but its the principal of it. These guys have nothing better to do. I think he was hoping to find something more to nail me on but come on. This is the kinda stuff that make people disrespect police. The very people we pay to protect and serve! I plan on sending the ticket in with a not guilty plea and see where it goes from there. If they scheudle a hearing date that will tell you how mismanaged our court systems are. The ticked SHOULD be dissmised. After all It is my word against his. with no prof and no other citations to speak of why shouldnt they just drop it. What do you guys think?

$10 is a deal. Michigan is way more. Why bother for $10. Guess he has to cover his cost of pulling you over. I suspect your inocent, but $10 ticket???? cost the state more to process it than that.

Good luck with that one... Hate to say it but " I fought the " LAW " and the law won. You have to roll the dice and hope the officer doesn't show up at the hearing. I also would think that our law enforcement officers should be chasing down criminals. Not ticketing the "average joe" for seat belts or speeding. However I have seen some drivers texting & talking & swerving that needed a ticket. Did you ever have the pleasure of trying to drive thru the state of Ohio ? For a heavy foot driver like myself ... it's nerve racking. talk about a " money grab "... I even was pulled over , while in the passenger lane doing 68, with my kids in the car ( years ago ) and ticketed. There were like 7 cars around me and they pulled over the white caddy from MI. It was a loaner while my hummer was in the shop. Officer claimed I was doing 81 , all my kids were telling him No...no...no...

I contemplated fighting it but the cost to return to court, take off work, lose a vac day, and show up with 3 young kid witnesses was not worth it.

Just pay it.

Life is not fair, plus I wouldn't want to do an officers job anyways. People start shooting at you nowadays.

Maybe he seen you on your cell phone, talking on the cell phone and driving is just unsafe, it should be illegal.

Unless it has changed, they could not pull you over just for not wearing a seatbelt. But this may have changed??

I was stopped this past spring for not having a plate on the front of the new truck. Just hadn't got around to attaching it the first few days or so. I released the seatbelt when I pulled over to get my License and Wallet from my back pocket. He questioned me about the seatbelt being off but believed me and gave me a 5 day ticket for the missing plate. I'm sure that they look for anything and everything during a stop like that. When they run the plates they're looking for prior stops, warrants, etc.

$10 here in Wisconsin, by a State Trooper no less, is a bargain. Pay the darn thing and move on.

I'm not surprised he stood his ground, but I am surprised when you said "Hey I'm talking to you" that he didn't spin a 180. That tells me he knew he was wrong, but wasn't going to take it back.

But $10? That's it? I'd sure like to give someone a piece of my mind over it as well, but $10? I might just grin and bear it for that...... No one is going to care what you have to say at this point.

It is all about the money, but $10???? Lmao. Barely buys lunch. State loses money on those tickets. A warning actually would save your state money than a ten dollar ticket.

yeah talk about a waste of time and money. Couldnt find anything else on me so he stuck me for a measily 10 bucks instead of letting me go I think he was embarassed and tried to be a tough guy about it.

Sworn to Harass & collect!... I mean serve & protect. If you think thats funny one of our local sheriff's just got caught passed out DUI, in his private car just outside of the moose lodge. Now get this, he is the guy that's heading up the "Safe & sober" program here for the county. Also believe he's one of my neighbors.

If you have the time, fight it. Depends how much it bothers you. I am the type of guy who would fight it if it was 10 cents. It's principal. That's after considering how convenient it is. (I wouldn't take off work....etc...)

I seen on the ticket that I can send in a not guilty plea ans then it goes in front of a judege. I think thats what Ill do. I wonder if they are stupid enough to send it through. Smart money would be to drop it. We'll see what happens. I am going to fight it.
