I seen on the ticket that I can send in a not guilty plea ans then it goes in front of a judege. I think thats what Ill do. I wonder if they are stupid enough to send it through. Smart money would be to drop it. We'll see what happens. I am going to fight it.

SMART MONEY how long have you been alive?when have you ever heard smart money and government used in the same sentence?
gov will always spend $800 to make you pay $10 after all it is your money they are spending they don't care.
but I also would go to the hearing officer and ask to see the photo other wise drop it because it is just his word against yours .
but then I am the kind of guy who would spend 800 to thumb my nose and give a big smile at the pig who wasted my time on the way out of the court room

Jeff, I know you and would be disappointed in you if you didn't fight it. Seeing how you used to drive for me I am sure you had your belt on and were doing everything right. It -as you said is the principal of the whole thing-.Sounds like he was bored or stopping you just to check you out and figured he would stick you with something. You do know however if you fight it and win, it could turn into a little pissing match between you and him. But i'm sure that won't stop you. Just watch for him in the future. Hopefully you can let me know how it turns out when you come up to ride in the GREAT WHITE NORTH, if we ever get enough snow. You and Yours have a Happy Holiday and hopefully we can get some miles on together with the gang before spring.

I'd just pay it. Friend of mine went to protest $10 parking ticket. Cop showed up at court. Friend lost. Ended up paying ticket and court fees. $80. Oh yah, don't forget the vacation time.

exactly, he wont show up for the date and they'll drop it. Maintain your position and see what happens if you have the time.

If you have the time, fight it. Depends how much it bothers you. I am the type of guy who would fight it if it was 10 cents. It's principal. That's after considering how convenient it is. (I wouldn't take off work....etc...)

well in MN you would not go to trial.you go see the hearing officer and deal with him first.
he can drop it or plead it out with a no same or similars in a yr and nothing goes on your record.
around my house it is the Plymouth government center 3rd floor on the left been there many many times and only ended up in cort 1 time.BTW my record is still clean and I get pulled over for speeding at least 1 time a yr

Maybe he seen you on your cell phone, talking on the cell phone and driving is just unsafe, it should be illegal.

Maybe for morons that cant walk and chew gum at the same time. There should be a test giving you a non moron cell phone use permit.

This sounds like surfs in the dark ages. Sherriff says you owe me, and you pay whereby he goes to the next and does the same. Over and over again.

If enough people said, NO, and took the time and effort to show up in court they would do this far less than they do.

You need to fight injustice where ever you can...it is YOUR responsibility as a citizen to make a stand and stop abuse, whether it is bullying a kid on the play ground, or stretch of the laws.

What he is counting on is that you were guilty and you will pay just to have to not fight it.

Stand up an announce that you are a citizen of the United States of America, and like soldiers who fight for our freedom, you will stand your ground when the law is wrong and you are right. You owe it to everyone to do this....paying the ticket might be an economical way to deal with it, but it is akin to robbing a smaller kid on the play ground because YOU CAN....

Now send that ticke in, and get an appearence in front of the judge....if enough people do that...the cop will quit assuming you weren't and only go after those that are extremely obvious....not likely to be wizzing by at 85 mile per hour.

Fight it if you have the time. If the COP shows and its your word against his, you are screwed. The judge will 100% of the time take the cops word over yours because he is a public servant and has no reason to lie.... laf

Also remember if he is a local cop in your area he will remember you and get you back any way he can. (no breaks in the future)

This is a good thought. Aren't most of our society's problems similar in that no one (probably me included) is willing to put in the effort to stand up to something unless it will benefit them directly? Don't know how to change this, just making an observation.

I agree, fight it if you have the time.

Try to have some picks with you in the front seat, same jacket, etc...and see if you can get any of those things to show up in the pick that may resemble the buckle when in fact it isn't. Just something that may help and sometimes a visual is better than words.

Funny, but true.
Unfortunately, they'd only be giving out permits to 15% of humanity, if a test were required for all.
And therefore nobody would be allowed to do it, because only a slim minority would be able to conform and that would be deemed as discriminatory.

in this country you are guilty until proven innocent. they try to make you believe it's the other way around but it's not. they are not there to protect you, they are there to make money. and it's your word against the word of someone who can do and say what they want. you have to remember who the da and the judge work for. they all stick together. you pay them or you pay a lawer, either way your going to pay.
