Stolen Yamaha hood decals

Just wondering if any other Yamaha owners have had their factory hood decals ripped off lately. While on a trip to Northern WI. and the U.P. myself and another person in our group had decals taken off of our machines while we were inside an establishment watching last weekends football games. Another person that I know had his taken off while he was riding in southern WI. Is this the latest thing now? Taking off someone's hood decals. Pretty hard up if you ask me, to go to the length of actually taking the time to stand there and peel the decals off someone's hood! Get a life people!

You sure they didn't blow off? With the cold weather we had last week the adhesive could of let go.

I know I have had them come off before but never stolen.

especially if youre doing any powder riding in the cold temps, they just fall off, the material gets brittle and the adhesive loses its ability to stick.

Look out for them on Ebay!

Seriously though, what reason would someone have to take them? They're probably good for nothing except to hang on the wall of some punk kid's bedroom.

I have an 08 Vector and the Decals have blown off before. I got up to over 100 on this one stretch, before 100 decal, after 100, no decal. they do blow off real easy in cold weather. Yamahas glue sucks though. Just my .02

There's probably a black market for them--after trailering my Vector over miles of salt and sand-filled highways I like to power wash it. So much for graphics--flew off the first time I washed it. Looks kinda cool all black though.

I was riding with Vector08 when he lost the Yami decal - he's right, it was there when we left and 100 miles later, it was gone. It wasn't super cold, but we did run a few miles at high speeds. We were never away from the sleds so there was no way someone pulled them off. The next day he pulled the other side off, it didn't put up much of a fight. I don't think anything really sticks well to the current yamaha side panels!

Registration Sticker (Ohio) fell off

My registration sticker fell off New Year's Day.

I'd been riding all week in all sorts of conditions - off trail, slow twisty trails, high speed rails to trails runs, etc. and no problem.

Pulled it into the trailer on NYD and when I got off it was laying on the floor of the trailer right below where it was mounted on the side panel. Can't believe it hung on all week (two years for that matter) and then fell off in the trailer. I don't know how long it would have been before I noticed if it had fallen off on the trail.

I went to the DMV and got a replacement. You should see the confusion on their faces when you ask for a snowmobile registration here "down south". I've done it enough times now that I just walk them through how to do it!

How the heck can someone pull decals off and keep them in tact? Not sure about yammi's, but on doos, it doesn't matter how cold it gets, I've never had an issue with them getting brittle. I've taken the stock decals off all my sleds, and it's impossible to do w/o some type of heat source. Once you apply the heat, they shrivle up and are useless anyhow. That's weird. Are Yammy panels removable? Could someone have swapped them?

Yamaha intentionally uses sub-par adhesive to give the illusion of speed. Now a yamaha rider can say "my sled is so fast the decals can't even hang on!!"...lol

And I was thinking people were stealing them to put on other brands of sleds so they would go faster. LOL

Someone may have taken them to put on their Ski Doo so noone would steal it. Doah! Sorry, couldn't help myself.

I've heard of decals coming off while riding, also.
