I've been reading the nws's forecast DISCUSSIONS concerning this storm for about 3 days now. In the discussions they have been talking about the uncertainty of this storm, and how the models have struggled with it, especially the dry air part of it, and the air temp at 5-10k feet.

down here in se wis. 35 miles north of milwaukee this storm has been a pleasant surprise.
started with 2-4 a few days ago, was 3-6 last night and looks like we'll end up with around 8. the sustained winds of 20-50 mph really gave this storm some teeth.
not sure its enough to open trails yet because as of this morning there was still standing water everywhere and the ground wasn't froze.
its a start though, wet heavy dense snow.

Here in northeast Iowa County/western Dane county, WI, we got about 6" on the ground and still snowing...sideways, with the friggin wind. About 1 1/2" of it was sleet around supper time. Sounded like an hour long hail storm. Now it's all snow. Our club will NOT be opening our trails due to zero frost in the ground and standing water. This snowcover will just insulate the ground from the upcoming cold temps. So, all for naught.....Just means more standing water as the temps look to warm up again at the end of the week

Just got in from helping a company plow snow with my loader and there is a lot of snow. going out again at 3:30 to plow again. we have at least 8 on the ground already, glad I didn't put the tracks on the tractor yet. If they do open the trails I'm not grooming, no frost yet. There was 3in this morning but, the snow took it out.

Yeah it's too bad this storm didn't go north more. I would of happily sacrificed snow here for the trails north.

looks like north east, east central, and southeastern Wisconsin were the big winners...a big swath of 6-8 inches from the Wausau area east to Shawano, and more in the fox valley, green bay etc.

Weather Channel called is what.....Winter Storm GOLIATH? What a joke.

Sorry for all the negativity peeps. Yesterday we were out all day busting our tails opening gates and cleaning a lot of overhanging trees that leaned over in the last sleet event we had. I am one sore MOFO this AM...body and soul!

Don't feel bad groomer...I sucked a door mat into my snow blower this morning...lol Forgot it was there...jammed my blower up...gotta work on that when I get home from work...wife is pissed cause I wrecked here door mat (one of those stupid rubber things)...lol ...I just forgot she put it there....couldn't find any of my snow shovels either (I have no idea what my kids did with them...can't find half my tools either)....so I'm batting 1000 today!!!

I had a good laugh when I read this. My wife also had a rubber tire mat out. Stopped the snowblower inches away thinking she forgot to bring in. Got lucky. Did sent a nice size rock through the snowblower though. Lucky again, had the chute pointed away from the house windows.

9" at my farm in Erin, Wi.
