The towel has been thrown

Think about the snomo dealers they got to be sitting on huge inventories midwest & eastern USA!

It isn't a good situation and there is no light at the end of the tunnel. Beyond hurting the dealers sitting on the inventory, these left overs cost the MFGs by way of rebates and interest protection they may pay the dealers. These costs need to be factored into the cost of future (2013) units. Bottom line is MSRP and dealer's costs for the 2013 models will reflect the hold over units.

I agree. I feel for all you sled heads here in Wisconsin. I actually think it is funny the year I decide to sell my sled it is by far the worst winter. I laughed all the way to the boat dealer when I bought a new 2012 Crownline. Far better investment, I can use 4-5 months of the year and my family gets a lot more enjoyment. I will keep doing my snow dance for you guys though!!!!

Sleds, clothing and parts. Got to be a killer. Also this will screw up sales for next year. Guys that trade every year probably wont. Guys with older stuff (like me) didn't wear anything out so the old horse will easily go another year.

Cat ties last year's dollars spent on POGA (parts, oils, garments & accessories) to a percentage of next year's pre-season order. The higher the percentage you buy at, the better the discounts, freight & payment programs. Left over POGA (and there is lots of it) will make it hard for dealers to reach program levels for next season.

Go on bigsnowpage.com brings me some hope. Says Late next week the weather pattern looks to lean towards winter and cold-like for a while, he said the "alaskan type winter" they've been getting is going to start coming down here. My towel is not thrown yet. I'm going up north this weekend, not sure what the rest of the winter holds, but I still have hope. It only takes 1 STORM!

There's still a lot of winter ahead in the north. You guys are crazy to call it quits before feb has started. Definately been a bad year but for sure not done yet.

Thats it Indy!
Keep up the Spirit!!)

I believe trails in WI officially close March 15.
I believe I have NOT seen a season locally where they NEVER even opened?
I believe We can not do a single thing about it
I believe I am getting very pizzed off.
I believe I may not believe in winter anymore.

(the devil on my left shoulder keeps telling me to hope for a major drought
this summer so I can poke fun at all the people whining about how dead their lawns are)

(the angel on my right shoulder keeps telling me not to listen to the other dude, and that wouldn't be good for my farmer friends)

(my gutt tells me to throw in the towel also)

THIS WINTER SUCKS.
:(

I agree and am hopeful. There are sleds on the trails today in Ironwood. There has not been a long, good winter with snow that stays in Illinois, Lower Wisconsin and, Lower Michigan in years so, the towel was thrown in there years ago. (I laugh in the summer when we go to our summer place near Dowagiac, Michigan and see the Snowmobile Parking for Trailers sign near there) So, even though it is cheaper to sled close to home, focus ONLY on the weather reports in the Upper Peninsula and Northern Wisconsin. Especially, in the Keweenaw, Ironwood and Hurley areas.

As warm as it has been in flatland mid 50s I'm surprised your have not resumed running, hiking, golfing, more spring like activities already? I would think twice about slopping up my sled at this point in time..... Feb a whole 29 days & total meltdown by mid March. Is it worth it or just forget this winter & write it off & keep cash in pocket for other stuff? Sad but real!

It makes me sad to read all these posts!! :(

Compared to last winter? We've (meaning me) had it GOOD! It's not GREAT but definitely GOOD! We learned the lesson LAST season to not wait for the snow but go to it when we could. WI has definitely had it bad. Poor Big Vin!! Lower MI has had it BAD! And E UP....well, it's just unheard of the winter they've had! But W UP? It may not be the amount of snow it's been in years past but we've been out there and had some fun.

Don't give up, guys! Like Indy said...it's always just one storm away! Ya never know! These warmer temps could put a lot of moisture in the air...cools on back down and WAMMO! :)

I'm glad that I don't have a trail running through my backyard to stare at every day and remind me. One of the NICE things about living where I can't ride...

This winter in ND and MN is a lot like 06-07. That year we didn't have good snow until the 1st of March and it lasted about 10 days when it came. At least I got to ride last weekend in NW MN so if it is over I did get 375 miles on my sled but I am not throwing in the towel until at least mid March

No tossing in the towel here! Just because the snow is stacked in a different location than what you want doesn't mean it is over! Snow traditionally has been chased. It has never been a given. It is not mother natures fault you have to put in for vacation days or get wifes permission, Be up for a challenge, drive to new locations, etc. it has always been this way. (that's how you discovered the UP) This year is worse than most but the snow can be found if you want it bad enough.

That would be nice. I'm heading to Munising middle of next week. With a little luck, perhaps John's forecast will hold and the LES guns will get fired up.

I guess you have not had a years worth of experience with the boat yet and the associated costs and time that go with it. With the price of boats in the past years I would not call it an investment at least from the money side just from the enjoyment side, you'll see what I mean when you go to sell. Don't get me wrong I loved my boat and the time we spent on it was a lot fun but there was a flipside with the money that continually had to go into it and the time you spend on the water will be equal if not less than the time taking care of it out of the water. I do hope you have many good times on the boat as that is priceless!!! As for the sleds I will not sell no matter what the winter brings, I just look at it as I get to delay buying a new one.
