Nice...I have a 70 SS L78 CI 4-speed car. $5/gal or not I am going to drive the bitch a lot!

Same here. Mine's a malibu that I am using SS parts to re-build (while driving) it. I swapped in a 454/700R4 combo with a 4.10 rearend. I plan on burning alot of gas and tires! Otherwise, where's the fun?

better yet. I forgot to mention 2 engines doing this at the same time. Burning 60 gals. per hr. on plane, crusing at 30 MPH. Takes me about 3 hrs. 15min. to get to Chicago on fumes. Gas dock to Gas dock.

works out to be $1 every 15 seconds at $4 a gal. No wonder why I order off the dollar menu at lunch time. Some of the boats in the marina with 4 barrel carbed 454's burn about $1 of gas every 7 seconds.

PR ,I had two of those 454's in a 33' Formula and glad I let that boat goo!

Bozo's in DC like the EPA won't let those Diesel engines in the States.

Everything I've read has to due with import costs and that the engines are as clean or cleaner than the gas engines we currently have. Europse has always traditionally had more stringent evironmental requirements, I figure its good for them its good for us. Almost half of all new cars sold there are diesel. This is plain out pathetic.

You have to drive allot of miles per year to justify trading vehicles over the price of fuel. And for those that are trying to sell me on there purchase of a second vehicle to save gas money, you're just crazy.

I agree. Same applies to maintaining a used vehicle, nickle and dime beats a payment in my book all the time.

It costs me about $20 just to drive to the gas dock and back to slip in the marina. Grand Isle has a truck that comes to your boat to do pump out for $20 during the week and $30 on weekends. I always thought that to be a lot. Actually it is one of the minor costs of boating. To drive boat to pump out, do the pump out, and drive back to slip I spend $40, may as well have the dock boy do it for me! We do have a boat at the marina that has 4- 454's with blowers on each motor, boat is a 50' Scarab (I think) he holds 400 gallons and usually gets towed back for running out of gas going from Grand Haven to Muskegon and back. Do the math on that fill up.

Back 2 years ago, I traded a 2000 Excursion with a v10 in for a 2008 Prius. The dealer looked at me a bit strange but I tell you that car pays for itself every month. At the pump, I put in 8 - 9 gallons at a time. In winter I get about 41 and in summer about 48 without paying attention to how i drive it. We take this north to Minocqua nearly every weekend which saves us anywhere from $60 - $80 a weekend just on gas over our truck. We bought a 1994 F150 to leave up north for $900 so we can still fish, hunt, trailer, and generally beat the heck out of it. I would buy another Prius.

That's the way to do it!

Didn't we just go through this a few years ago? Large pickups were worth nothing for a while but have bounced back like nothing happened. Same thing will happen again here.

I have a hard time understanding someone who owns a $45,000 f-150 driving up and down our main strip looking for the cheap gas to fill their truck????? Now thats funny!!

I'm hoping you meant $3.45 and $3.33. It jumped to $3.49 in the Twin Cities today.

never knew of a truck that gets 18 MPG's. must be a little Nissan ot Toyota with a 4 banger. Best I get is 15 on the highway with a Hemi, when the cylinders start shutting down by some very expensive exposed wiring and a computer. Probably could of bought a ton of gas for the cost of that energy saving device that looks expensive to replace = nothing gained.

I have a '01 F-150 with a 5.4 that consistently gets 18-20 hwy. Just hauled my XR1200 home from Wisconsin in the bed and got 16-17. Pulling a 12 ft enclosed trailer with two Harley's 14-16. I can live with that.

Now on another note. These oil companies aren't gonna be happy until gas gets to $5 gallon. That's all we've heard for the last six months. This mid-east thing is just another fugging excuse. Let 'em fight, it's a good thing to get rid off all the dictators over there. I wish gas would hit $5 gallon tomorrow, the sooner the better. Then the market and economy will crash and it will be back down to $2.00 gallon. It will be just like three years ago when high gas prices broke everything. There is no way this fragile economy can support high fuel prices. Hope the day traders take a bath to, they deserve it.

Sorry for the rant, it's such BS.

I use to trailer it out to a gas station a few blocks from the hammond marina to fill it up and saved about $ 150 a fill up.And hey why doo we pay road tax @ marinas

We bought a new 2010 Prius back in May and I have been really happy with it. We still have our SUV for the more serious winter driving or towing, but lately I find myself taking the Prius more and more as gas prices keep going up (Currently 3.60 in burbs and 3.75 downtown Chicago)

Last summer I remember our first trip to the Keweenaw with our new Prius....averaged 51 MPG for the complete trip including the stop and go city driving while we were up there.

why would you hope that? I would hope that I was correct but I wasn't. My how money flies. lol

It would be nice to see a $1 less per gallon vs. $1 more, or $2 as it might be, trust me, I would like to see that as well, just pointing out a typo.

Stations make more money on food and the other crap they sell. I try not to spend money at the gas station soon it will be $1.99 for a soda!
