I'm sorry but.... are you serious? Our bog-standard 4.6L 2010 F-150 regularly sees 21MPG on the highway. My friends modded 07 Ram diesel gets mid-twenties when we take it biking. I assume we're talking highway based on you talking about cylinders shutting down while cruising. I don't know what to tell you.... do you normally see a lot less than EPA estimates while driving?

I didn't notice that until I read it. True, 1 is 25% more than .8, while .8 would be a 20% decrease from 1. Either way, pushing a boat through water isn't efficient... lol, who knew?!

But that is a 4.6, when i think ford truck i think 5.4

Also, diesels have always gotten better gas mileage or shall i say diesel mileage? lol

Maybe it'l be time to snatch up a big gas guzzler when the pricies on them drop. Looking to upgrade the Tundra!

Let me tell you when gas hit 3.60-3.70 in 07 I purchased an 05 4x4 trailblazer with 16k for $12,500 it was a steal! I have it up for sale now and it will easily draw 9,500 to 10,000.

chevy trailblazer inline 6 is putting out more horsepower than most trucks, it amazes me.

My 8000# Chevy Duramax gets 25-26 mpg on the highway. Exhaust and a programmer goes a long way :D

I have 77k on it now. I did very little in 61k. 1 coil pack, spark plugs, and needs a fuel sending unit. This was my first chevy outside of a free chevette it was a solid truck.

Kamikaze,

Don't feed that thing Chili Beans or you will never pass the EPA Specs.

Gary

That's the problem. The owner's manual recommends fuel with an octane rating of 91 or higher. Beans and beer are about the only thing I am aware of that are capable of producing this level of octane.

Bad Gas

This whole gas thing gives me cramps! My 2004 Chevy 4x 4 truck with 59,000 miles, not a scratch, loaded with heated leather, on star, bose stereo ect. was only worth $12,000 on trade to dealers when gas was $2.60 per gallon. Can you amagine what they give me on trade now that gas is 3.50? Also the Chevy Volt does not come standard with a trailer hitch.

Nope Dodge Dakota 4.7 V8 automatic trans. It actually gets better fuel mileage than my 2000 Dakota with a V6 and stick, go figure?

no offense, but a Dakota may be a truck to some, but I am referring to full size "trucks" the 3/4 ton variety. A truck that can haul a serious load of firewood, pull a house size trailer down the street, 3000 pounds of dirt in the back, goes up a mountain pulling a 4 place steel enclosed trailer with 5 sleds and gear in it without slowing down, type of truck, guess I wasn't to clear on that. My 3/4 350 chev. gets. 12.5 at best. my 3/4 ton 454 suburban that I had with 4:10 gears got 9 at best and did more like 7.5 all around. My wimpy 1/2 ton Dodge Hemi gets between 12.8 (pulling 2 place aluminum trailer) and 15.2 (totally empty box and cab, but me) realistic MPG. it has a gauge on the ceiling that tells me this that I have checked to be pretty accurate. My wifes "Roller Skate" Buick Rendezvous with a 6 banger geared to barely pull itself out of the way gets 18 to 23 mpg at best.

Again?

Didn't we just go through this a few years ago? Large pickups were worth nothing for a while but have bounced back like nothing happened. Same thing will happen again here.
