LOL every week we have a different Fed x driver. Most of them don't belong behind the wheel. I will admit Speedee is SUPER cheap shipping. They could raise their rates and still be the cheapest game in town. Very lucky to have them!

Won't disagree on Speedy! Fed X is to dependent on "contractors" for there delivery routes. We have finally got the same driver for the past several years? And yes, he's not the sharpest driver as he once buried his truck in our front yard. I have no idea what he thought he was doing?

UPS, Fed X, and Fed X freight have no problems with help? Why is that, really? Could it be wages/pay?

I'm sure that is one of the primary reasons. Didn't FedEx have some sort of a commitment you had to make to get a job there? I know they used to have something 10-12 years go. And yes, Speedee is cheap.... but they only serve a 9 state area.

We had a UPS guy try to turn around in our field once - in the middle of winter!

I definitely do not have all the answers but I do have to do something to improve attendance.
Thank you for the feedback..any ideas?

Bear

We used a perfect attendance bonus system with a few variations.
A sorta simple explanation - A valid Dr. note for short term emergencies would not fully count against the EE. There are obviously methods to get a Dr. to sign off on questionable cases. The EEs that used a note were on a reduced payout, but they could earn back the points if they had no further incidences. Six months of perfect attendance would get you back half the points and a year allowed a full bank. It did give a little help to those with valid emergencies or sickness.
One downside were the people that crossed the threshold and knew they were out of the bonuses. We just planned on them using a bunch of days real quick after crossing the threshold.
Again, it is a simple description and it did get modified over time. We had a lot of data to use that was tied to performance against engineered standards. (Each motion was standardized down to .0001 seconds) The data fed incentive pay programs and those were tied to a grouped category that included attendance. Hard workers that showed up every day made relatively big bank.

Imagine anyone being short on labor right now?! The government is so wise, they are paying people more to sit at home than go to work. Most people are staying at home, can't blame them. I sure hope I get my sled in time, I've sold both of mine to lovemydobe.
I'm sooo thankful I bought BOTH from you, I go out in the building and look at them thinking I struck GOLD! Wondering what happened to my blown up sled that I unloaded at Hayward Power Sports, probably never made the sales floor after they fixed it

My son is going to welding school and he couldn't wait to go to work until his schooling starts this September. He already has several certifications so he's off to a good start. We've taught him work ethic from day one is crucial. He starts working for Fed Ex in Eagle River, WI on Memorial Day. Starting pay is $12.25 per hour and he's pumped. Just got a apartment in Rhinelander. Don't think mamma bear is ready for it but we're proud of him for wanting to work when in all honesty he doesn't have to. A lot of the issues we're facing start at home in my opinion. I certainly haven't been easy on my kids and at times I don't make myself proud, but I believe they need a certain amount of tough love and toughness to make it out there. Parents aren't going to be around forever and kids have become to soft and too dependent on their parents for every little thing. Work ethic starts at home. People have choices. They can go to work or stay home. They can enable their kids or have them face consequences. They can step up and do what's right, or they can become a victim. Make no mistake about it, our government would rather us take all the paths heavily traveled during this day and age which is the easy way out. Sorry to go on and on and I don't even know where I'm going with this! Son of a!

So very true! The parents are a huge part of todays problem. Its fine to want better for your kids than what you had growing up, but way too many are over the top with this and the kid never learns. Then we all suffer as the become a governor in Illinois.

Buy him a 60k welding truck and send him to work on the Line 3 pipeline in MN..$6,000 pay a week and per diem for hotel and food.
Met a dozen or so welders this past winter..even the ones that don't weld can make $30 an hour and work up to 72 hours a week.

They are paying 25 an hour(plus hotel) for security on Line 3 project also. Good way to make fast cash, not hard work, very entertaining watching "water protectors" do stupid antics.

Good on your son, clearly been raised right.
That’s most of the problems in our society, no parental up bringing for a myriad of reasons.

Kip....great to hear that you and Trish have Wyatt on a great path for his future. Your Dad did an awesome job with you and Chad and I'm glad to see that you're passing the torch with Wyatt. Kudo's to you and Trish.
